Looking back at the house, the stone path ties the home and garden together. Although the house is across the street from the garden, the two spaces work together in the landscape and bring the shore near the home. Located on the shores of Puget Sound in Washington State.

After reconfiguring the drive, our team re-aligned the secondary walk toward the family parking area. Massed woody plants, perennials, and groundcover downplay the secondary entry from visitors, and are repeated around the property to create a consistent planting plan.

The client's inspiration for the backyard was to incorporate the moroccan tile design from the mudroom into a part of the exterior, so we designed a custom screen and integrated it into the pergola. We built a new fence at one side of the property, installed new hardscaping, dining and seating areas, landscaping and seasonal planters into the space.
Seasons in Colour
Danetti Palermo corner bench in grey and Palermo coffee table. The back garden was designed to include a round deck and lawn area and is surrounded by a stone path, a further flower patch and a natural green fence. Outdoors cushions by Penelope Hope, new for SS18. In the back two large ash trees are providing shade in the Spring summer. Two younger ash trees were removed to avoid overcrowding or entirely blocking the sun. The shed is painted in Green Smoke (Little Greene) while the bistro set is painted in Cuprinol Garden Shades Berry and Emerald.

We were asked to design and plant the driveway and gardens surrounding a substantial period property in Cobham. Our Scandinavian clients wanted a soft and natural look to the planting. We used long flowering shrubs and perennials to extend the season of flower, and combined them with a mix of beautifully textured evergreen plants to give year-round structure. We also mixed in a range of grasses for movement which also give a more contemporary look.

При въезде на участок организована парковка. Из построек – гостевой дом, здесь же баня. Самая дальняя часть участка – естественный лес с прогулочной дорожкой.

With a lengthy list of ideas about how to transform their backyard, the clients were excited to see what we could do. Existing features on site needed to be updated and in-cooperated within the design. The view from each angle of the property was already outstanding and we didn't want the design to feel out of place. We had to make the grade changes work to our advantage, each separate space had to have a purpose. The client wanted to use the property for charity events, so a large flat turf area was constructed at the back of the property, perfect for setting up tables, chairs and a stage if needed. It also created the perfect look out point into the back of the property, dropping off into a ravine. A lot of focus throughout the project was the plant selection. With a large amount of garden beds, we wanted to maintain a clean and formal look, while still offering seasonal interest. We did this by edging the beds with boxwoods, adding white hydrangeas throughout the beds for constant colour, and subtle pops of purple and yellow. This along with the already breathtaking natural backdrop of the space, is more than enough to make this project stand out.
