Audrey Matlock ArchitectThis unique outdoor living space is tucked between the house and the forest. The 65 foot long gunite pool and spa are surrounded by landscape and adjacent to a covered outdoor room with a pool house, fireplace, dining terrace, bbq kitchen and open air lounge. Sunshades and overhanging roofs protect the house interiors from direct sun.

IQ Glass UKA shaped glass extension to a cottage renovation in Devon. The glass extension has slim sliding glass doors and shaped frameless structural glazing.
Rhodes Architecture + LightWe designed a “tree house” suspended above the ground on glued-laminated timber columns supporting two stories, forty feet above the forest floor. Suquamish means “place of clear water”. The care of the land that drove this residence included simple strategies for capturing rain and percolating storm water, minimal excavation and removal of soils, low-impact concrete foundations, and a light structure that captures views of the forest, water, and a distant Seattle skyline to the east.

Textured cast glass privacy screens, or privacy walls bring an entirely new look to your space. To provide privacy or to open up a room - partitions never looked so good! Featured texture is "Lava" on clear glass.
HufftFor this house “contextual” means focusing the good view and taking the bad view out of focus. In order to accomplish this, the form of the house was inspired by horse blinders. Conceived as two tubes with directed views, one tube is for entertaining and the other one for sleeping. Directly across the street from the house is a lake, “the good view.” On all other sides of the house are neighbors of very close proximity which cause privacy issues and unpleasant views – “the bad view.” Thus the sides and rear are mostly solid in order to block out the less desirable views and the front is completely transparent in order to frame and capture the lake – “horse blinders.” There are several sustainable features in the house’s detailing. The entire structure is made of pre-fabricated recycled steel and concrete. Through the extensive use of high tech and super efficient glass, both as windows and clerestories, there is no need for artificial light during the day. The heating for the building is provided by a radiant system composed of several hundred feet of tubes filled with hot water embedded into the concrete floors. The façade is made up of composite board that is held away from the skin in order to create ventilated façade. Gregory Thomas, Architect, AKBD, CG&S Design-BuildThe width of the the carport addition was constrained by code setbacks, to such a degree that the car the house was designed around has to be backed into its spot.
The detail above the carport opening echoes the front porch trim.
Window at top gable brings a little light into the attic.
Custom-made cypress screens cover the front facade's double-hung windows.
