Slovack-BassConsideration of how a room will be used must happen before any seating arrangement or furniture needs can be determined. This great room is the central gathering hub for the recreational center and needed to function for a small event or large party. This neccesitated ample seating. Two sofas, fireside chairs, occasional chairs and bar seating ensure that everyone will be able to gather around for fellowship or simply watching a great movie.
A combination of textures in the space adds variety and interest. Velvet on the sofas, leather barstools, a hair-on-hide rug, and embossed leather panels around the stone fireplace surround balance out the harder surfaces of stone, wood, metal, and plaster.

Kevin Twitty InteriorsThis is a great aerial view of my client's family room. It really shows off the cosiness of their sister sofa's and matching swivels. Once again we loved bringing in that touch of casual rustic. My favorite piece that does this is the reclaimed square cocktail table.

Wood Done RightWe did this library and screen room project, designed by Linton Architects in 2017.
It features lots of bookshelf space, upper storage, a rolling library ladder and a retractable digital projector screen.
Of particular note is the use of the space above the windows to house the screen and main speakers, which is enclosed by lift-up doors that have speaker grille cloth panels. I also made a Walnut library table to store the digital projector under a drop leaf.

Kevin McManamon Interior DesignDespite the grand size of the 300-square-foot den and its cathedral ceiling, the room remains cozy and welcoming. The casual living space is a respite from the white walls and trim that illuminate most of the main level. Instead, natural cherry built-in shelving and paneling span the fireplace wall and fill the room with a warm masculine sensibility.
The hearth surround of the gas fireplace exhibits prosperity for detail. The herringbone pattern is constructed of small, tumbled-slate tiles and topped with a simple natural cherry mantel.
There are integrated windows into the design of the fireplace wall. The small, high sidelights are joined by three grand windows that fill most of the room's back wall and offer an inviting view of the backyard. Comfortable twin chairs and a classic-style sofa provide ideal spots to relax, read or enjoy a show on the TV, which is hidden in the corner behind vintage shutters.
