Denise Quade DesignTwo pullout hampers were incorporated into the base cabinet storage in this laundry room. Sea grass paint was chosen for the cabinets and topped with a marble countertop.
Rochelle Lynne DesignKaren was an existing client of ours who was tired of the crowded and cluttered laundry/mudroom that did not work well for her young family. The washer and dryer were right in the line of traffic when you stepped in her back entry from the garage and there was a lack of a bench for changing shoes/boots.
Planning began… then along came a twist! A new puppy that will grow to become a fair sized dog would become part of the family. Could the design accommodate dog grooming and a daytime “kennel” for when the family is away?
Having two young boys, Karen wanted to have custom features that would make housekeeping easier so custom drawer drying racks and ironing board were included in the design. All slab-style cabinet and drawer fronts are sturdy and easy to clean and the family’s coats and necessities are hidden from view while close at hand.
The selected quartz countertops, slate flooring and honed marble wall tiles will provide a long life for this hard working space. The enameled cast iron sink which fits puppy to full-sized dog (given a boost) was outfitted with a faucet conducive to dog washing, as well as, general clean up. And the piece de resistance is the glass, Dutch pocket door which makes the family dog feel safe yet secure with a view into the rest of the house. Karen and her family enjoy the organized, tidy space and how it works for them.

UserNo one likes it but there's no way around it — every family has laundry. However, having a well designed space like this one can take the drudgery out of washing clothes. Located off the kitchen and next to the back door, this laundry/mud room is part of the family hub. This is a great arrangement for families that need to multi-task — Keeping the front load washer and dryer in a side-by-side configuration allows for a large countertop that is handy for for folding and sorting. Coat hooks behind the back door a great place to hang raincoats or snow pants until dry, keeping the dampness away from the other jackets and coats.

Lenton Company, Inc.Full laundry room remodel included removing a wall, moving heater into the attic, rerouting duct work, and a tankless water heater. Large laundry hamper drawer is integrated into the cabinets, along with pullout drawers in the cabinets creating easy access for storage. Stainless steel rod for hanging clothes above the extra deep folding counter. Quartz countertops, white glass subway tile backsplash, and modern drawer pulls complete the look.

Visbeen ArchitectsThis dramatic design takes its inspiration from the past but retains the best of the present. Exterior highlights include an unusual third-floor cupola that offers birds-eye views of the surrounding countryside, charming cameo windows near the entry, a curving hipped roof and a roomy three-car garage.
Inside, an open-plan kitchen with a cozy window seat features an informal eating area. The nearby formal dining room is oval-shaped and open to the second floor, making it ideal for entertaining. The adjacent living room features a large fireplace, a raised ceiling and French doors that open onto a spacious L-shaped patio, blurring the lines between interior and exterior spaces.
Informal, family-friendly spaces abound, including a home management center and a nearby mudroom. Private spaces can also be found, including the large second-floor master bedroom, which includes a tower sitting area and roomy his and her closets. Also located on the second floor is family bedroom, guest suite and loft open to the third floor. The lower level features a family laundry and craft area, a home theater, exercise room and an additional guest bedroom.

UserThis mudroom/laundry area was dark and disorganized. We created some much needed storage, stacked the laundry to provide more space, and a seating area for this busy family. The random hexagon tile pattern on the floor was created using 3 different shades of the same tile. We really love finding ways to use standard materials in new and fun ways that heighten the design and make things look custom. We did the same with the floor tile in the front entry, creating a basket-weave/plaid look with a combination of tile colours and sizes. A geometric light fixture and some fun wall hooks finish the space.
