Rich woods, natural stone, artisan lighting, and plenty of custom finishes (such as the cut-out mirror) gave this home a strong character. We kept the lighting and textiles soft to ensure a welcoming ambiance.
Project designed by Susie Hersker’s Scottsdale interior design firm Design Directives. Design Directives is active in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree, Sedona, and beyond.

We created a feature wall with a decorative floral paper for a guest bathroom. A silver gilt mirror was chosen over the wash hand basin and two glass and chrome wall lights were place symmetrically either side.

The vanity in this powder room takes advantage of the width of the room, providing ample counter space. A colorful countertop is the focal point of the room. Wood panel wainscoting warms the space. Mosaic stone tiles add texture to the walls.

Our clients’ beautiful island home has a deep relationship to nature. Every room in the house is oriented toward the Lake Washington. My favorite part of the design process was seeking to create a seamless feel between indoors and out. We chose a neutral and monochromatic palette, so as to not deflect from the beauty outside.
Also the interior living spaces being anchored by two massive stone fireplaces - that we decided to preserve - we incorporated both rustic and modern elements in unexpected ways that worked seamlessly. We combined unpretentious, luxurious minimalism with woodsy touches resulting in sophisticated and livable interiors.
