Century Stair CompanyA glass balustrade was selected for the straight flight to allow light to flow freely into the living area and to create an uncluttered space (defined by the clean lines of the grooved top hand rail and wide bottom stringer). The invisible barrier works beautifully with the 2" squared-off oak treads, matching oak risers and strong-routed poplar stringers; it definitively improves the modern feel of the home. Paradise Tiny Homes LLCThis Ohana model ATU tiny home is contemporary and sleek, cladded in cedar and metal. The slanted roof and clean straight lines keep this 8x28' tiny home on wheels looking sharp in any location, even enveloped in jungle. Cedar wood siding and metal are the perfect protectant to the elements, which is great because this Ohana model in rainy Pune, Hawaii and also right on the ocean.
A natural mix of wood tones with dark greens and metals keep the theme grounded with an earthiness.
Theres a sliding glass door and also another glass entry door across from it, opening up the center of this otherwise long and narrow runway. The living space is fully equipped with entertainment and comfortable seating with plenty of storage built into the seating. The window nook/ bump-out is also wall-mounted ladder access to the second loft.
The stairs up to the main sleeping loft double as a bookshelf and seamlessly integrate into the very custom kitchen cabinets that house appliances, pull-out pantry, closet space, and drawers (including toe-kick drawers).
A granite countertop slab extends thicker than usual down the front edge and also up the wall and seamlessly cases the windowsill.
The bathroom is clean and polished but not without color! A floating vanity and a floating toilet keep the floor feeling open and created a very easy space to clean! The shower had a glass partition with one side left open- a walk-in shower in a tiny home. The floor is tiled in slate and there are engineered hardwood flooring throughout.
VPWdesignsThis was a fun build and a delightful family to work and design with. The ladder is aesthetically pleasing and functional for their space, and also much safer than the previous loft access. The custom welded steel frame and alternating step support system combined with light colored, solid alder wood treads provide an open feel for the tight space.
Ken Spears ConstructionA modern, industrial staircase leads up from the main living quarters to the newly remodeled kitchen space bringing with it the warm tones of wood and clean lines of the railing.
Geary Floors IncHand scraped wood flooring by simple floors. Staircase is custom made and scraped and stained to match flooring.
Userphotography by Atelier Wong. The custom stiar uses bevelled and darkly stained white oak to make a crisp corner. Unfinished cedar brings the outside in and makes a cubist trim.

Aezu StudioMISSION: Les habitants du lieu ont souhaité restructurer les étages de leur maison pour les adapter à leur nouveau mode de vie, avec des enfants plus grands et de plus en plus créatifs.
Une partie du projet a consisté à transformer au deuxième étage, la grande chambre avec mezzanine qui était partagée par les deux enfants, en trois nouveaux espaces : deux chambres aux volumes atypiques indépendantes l’une de l’autre et une salle d’eau.
Ici le nouvel escalier qui mène à la chambre du haut, qui joue à cache-cache derrière une porte coulissante.
Un escalier dessiné sur mesure, à pas japonais pour raccourcir au maximum la trémie, réalisé en contreplaqué d'épicéa (verni incolore mat pour conserver l'aspect du bois brut). Une fois que l'on est parti du bon pied, tout va bien !
