Four Elements ConstructionThis is our very first Four Elements remodel show home! We started with a basic spec-level early 2000s walk-out bungalow, and transformed the interior into a beautiful modern farmhouse style living space with many custom features. The floor plan was also altered in a few key areas to improve livability and create more of an open-concept feel. Check out the shiplap ceilings with Douglas fir faux beams in the kitchen, dining room, and master bedroom. And a new coffered ceiling in the front entry contrasts beautifully with the custom wood shelving above the double-sided fireplace. Highlights in the lower level include a unique under-stairs custom wine & whiskey bar and a new home gym with a glass wall view into the main recreation area.
Leah Fitzpatrick of House + SoulThe basement game room has an adjoining closet that the owner turned into a game closet and painted a moss green. The sideboard formerly served as the kitchen island when the owner purchased the cabin, but she had the idea that it could be used in this closet. The duck decoy lamp also came with the cabin when the owner purchased it, but she repurposed it from a bedroom and added a vintage Planters Cocktail Peanuts trash can to serve as a planter for dried hydrangeas atop the game sideboard. The vintage wine poster is a family piece from Italy.
Chervin Kitchen & Bath Inc.Welcome to the ultimate basement game room! As you step into this vibrant space, you're greeted by a sleek yellow shiplap wall that adds a touch of sophistication and modern flair. Integrated lighting casts an inviting glow throughout the room, enhancing the ambiance and highlighting the stylish design elements. Whether hosting game nights with friends or enjoying a relaxing evening alone, this well-lit game room sets the stage for unforgettable moments.
Andra Martens Design StudioWe were hired to finish the basement of our clients cottage in Haliburton. The house is a woodsy craftsman style. Basements can be dark so we used pickled pine to brighten up this 3000 sf space which allowed us to remain consistent with the vibe of the overall cottage. We delineated the large open space in to four functions - a Family Room (with projector screen TV viewing above the fireplace and a reading niche); a Game Room with access to large doors open to the lake; a Guest Bedroom with sitting nook; and an Exercise Room. Glass was used in the french and barn doors to allow light to penetrate each space. Shelving units were used to provide some visual separation between the Family Room and Game Room. The fireplace referenced the upstairs fireplace with added inspiration from a photo our clients saw and loved. We provided all construction docs and furnishings will installed soon.

Annette Jaffe InteriorsThis 4,500 sq ft basement in Long Island is high on luxe, style, and fun. It has a full gym, golf simulator, arcade room, home theater, bar, full bath, storage, and an entry mud area. The palette is tight with a wood tile pattern to define areas and keep the space integrated. We used an open floor plan but still kept each space defined. The golf simulator ceiling is deep blue to simulate the night sky. It works with the room/doors that are integrated into the paneling — on shiplap and blue. We also added lights on the shuffleboard and integrated inset gym mirrors into the shiplap. We integrated ductwork and HVAC into the columns and ceiling, a brass foot rail at the bar, and pop-up chargers and a USB in the theater and the bar. The center arm of the theater seats can be raised for cuddling. LED lights have been added to the stone at the threshold of the arcade, and the games in the arcade are turned on with a light switch.

The ventilation system prevents smoke from going to other areas of the house and is functional for the client's love of cigars. The new space has plenty of storage and display area, with custom open shelving, lockable drawers, and a hidden beverage cooler paneled to look balanced with the other cabinets. The monochrome navy color scheme brings a masculine feeling, while not compromising the soft textures of the rug and seating.
