"The homeowners can be described as an active family of three boys. They tend to host family and friends and wanted a space that could fill their large backyard and yet be functional for the kids and adults. The contemporary straight lines of the pool match the interior of the house giving them a resort feel in the very own backyard! The large pergola is a perfect area to cool off in the shade while enjoying a large outdoor kitchen as well as an oversized fire pit for the cooler nights and roasting marshmallows. They wanted a wow factor as the pool is the main focal point from the living room, and the oversized wall and rain sheer did the trick!"
NSPJ ArchitectsSteeply pitched roofs, brick exterior with half-timbering, and steel windows and doors which are all common features to the English Tudor style. While staying true to the character of the property and architectural style, unique detailing like bracketed arbors make it well suited for its garden setting.
Carlton EdwardsThis blue ice sandstone terrace has a cooling effect to this comfortable outdoor living space that offers a wide-open area to lounge next to the custom-designed pool. The loggia exterior of limed brick connects to the main house right off the hearth room and is embellished with mahogany shutters flanking the French doors with a bleaching oil finish.
Think Outside GardensThe brief for this large garden, was to transform an existing old swimming pool and update the garden spaces around it, bringing it up to date with the contemporary architecture of the house. The feature of the garden is undoubtably the magnificent Jacaranda that is incorporated into the design with a simple timber deck flush with the pool coping.
Dark turquoise pool tiles show the tree beautifully reflected. Simple green boundary planting with dark coloured perimeter fencing create a soft moody palette. The addition of a Dragon Tree at the end completes the composition. A generous undercover entertaining area is located off the house with built in BBQ at one end. The success of this family garden design, pool and entertaining area is due to the careful selection of and minimal use of surfaces and materials so that the existing tree and pool shine.
