The Artisans Group, Inc.Winner of the 2018 Tour of Homes Best Remodel, this whole house re-design of a 1963 Bennet & Johnson mid-century raised ranch home is a beautiful example of the magic we can weave through the application of more sustainable modern design principles to existing spaces.
We worked closely with our client on extensive updates to create a modernized MCM gem.
Extensive alterations include:
- a completely redesigned floor plan to promote a more intuitive flow throughout
- vaulted the ceilings over the great room to create an amazing entrance and feeling of inspired openness
- redesigned entry and driveway to be more inviting and welcoming as well as to experientially set the mid-century modern stage
- the removal of a visually disruptive load bearing central wall and chimney system that formerly partitioned the homes’ entry, dining, kitchen and living rooms from each other
- added clerestory windows above the new kitchen to accentuate the new vaulted ceiling line and create a greater visual continuation of indoor to outdoor space
- drastically increased the access to natural light by increasing window sizes and opening up the floor plan
- placed natural wood elements throughout to provide a calming palette and cohesive Pacific Northwest feel
- incorporated Universal Design principles to make the home Aging In Place ready with wide hallways and accessible spaces, including single-floor living if needed
- moved and completely redesigned the stairway to work for the home’s occupants and be a part of the cohesive design aesthetic
- mixed custom tile layouts with more traditional tiling to create fun and playful visual experiences
- custom designed and sourced MCM specific elements such as the entry screen, cabinetry and lighting
- development of the downstairs for potential future use by an assisted living caretaker
- energy efficiency upgrades seamlessly woven in with much improved insulation, ductless mini splits and solar gain

DwellifyThis green-loving homeowner came to us with a specific vision in mind - they wanted to go green. By incorporating a fun, geometric tile, a mix of black and gold accents, and a gorgeous free-standing bathtub, our team was able to turn this bathroom into their dream space. After the remodel was complete, the homeowner incorporated plants and additional green accents to take this green bathroom to the next level and truly make it their own.
Kreative Kitchens & BathsThis traditional bathroom with bead board inset into cabinets door style with a black glaze to offset the absolute black counter tops and accent tile work.
A floral small hexagon pattern in the shower floor sets off this traditional look!
NR InteriorsWe designed this Master Bathroom to incorporate natural yet elegant materials, including mahogany cabinetry, limestone countertops, chevron wood veneer wallpaper, brass pulls and polished nickel plumbing fixtures.
Kitchen Design ConceptsAfter reviving their kitchen, this couple was ready to tackle the master bathroom by getting rid of some Venetian plaster and a built in tub, removing fur downs and a bulky shower surround, and just making the entire space feel lighter, brighter, and bringing into a more mid-century style space.
The cabinet is a freestanding furniture piece that we allowed the homeowner to purchase themselves to save a little bit on cost, and it came with prefabricated with a counter and undermount sinks. We installed 2 floating shelves in walnut above the commode to match the vanity piece.
The faucets are Hansgrohe Talis S widespread in chrome, and the tub filler is from the same collection. The shower control, also from Hansgrohe, is the Ecostat S Pressure Balance with a Croma SAM Set Plus shower head set.
The gorgeous freestanding soaking tub if from Jason - the Forma collection. The commode is a Toto Drake II two-piece, elongated.
Tile was really fun to play with in this space so there is a pretty good mix. The floor tile is from Daltile in their Fabric Art Modern Textile in white. We kept is fairly simple on the vanity back wall, shower walls and tub surround walls with an Interceramic IC Brites White in their wall tile collection. A 1" hex on the shower floor is from Daltile - the Keystones collection. The accent tiles were very fun to choose and we settled on Daltile Natural Hues - Paprika in the shower, and Jade by the tub.
The wall color was updated to a neutral Gray Screen from Sherwin Williams, with Extra White as the ceiling color.
Stonebreaker Builders & RemodelersStonebreaker renovated a small 1950's home in St. Charles, Illinois. The floor plan consisted of small closed off rooms. We opened up the plan and added a master suite and bath off the back of the house.
DYM Builders Group, Inc.Transform your home with a new construction master bathroom remodel that embodies modern luxury. Two overhead square mirrors provide a spacious feel, reflecting light and making the room appear larger. Adding elegance, the wood cabinetry complements the white backsplash, and the gold and black fixtures create a sophisticated contrast. The hexagon flooring adds a unique touch and pairs perfectly with the white countertops. But the highlight of this remodel is the shower's niche and bench, alongside the freestanding bathtub ready for a relaxing soak.
Rande Leaman Interior DesignThe primary bathroom is open to the bedroom and has a custom wood vanity with white quartz countertops. The backsplash tile is a textured wall tile that also was used in the shower.
Christopher's Kitchen & BathEvery so often we get the unique opportunity to collaborate with another designer. This quirky and elegant master bath could not have been more fun to be a part of.
Meg Miller's incredibly cool vision for her clients' master bathroom was modern and bold, but refined, comfortable and inviting. The clients had specific needs for storage and the use of space, but didn't want anything to appear function-over-form. No amenities were overlooked: custom walnut cabinetry, heated floors, a digitally controlled shower and steam shower, and an all glass water-closet.
