Cathie Hong InteriorsWhat started as a kitchen and two-bathroom remodel evolved into a full home renovation plus conversion of the downstairs unfinished basement into a permitted first story addition, complete with family room, guest suite, mudroom, and a new front entrance. We married the midcentury modern architecture with vintage, eclectic details and thoughtful materials.
Alloi Architecture + ConstructionWagoya House stands as a testament to the power of architecture to harmoniously merge natural elements with modern design. The combination of vertical grain Douglas fir windows and doors, the Eichler home reference with a steel and glass façade, the custom vertical wood siding feature wall, smooth trowel earth-toned stucco, board form landscape feature walls, stone-clad entry, and the stone chimney penetrating the steel standing seam roof creates a symphony of textures and materials that celebrate the beauty of the surrounding environment.
Brad Cox, Architect, Inc.A ceiling soffit creates a sense of place for this library within the main living area. The compression shelving system can be moved as desired, making it easy to change the feel of the space.
Nicole Arnold InteriorsThe unused dining room was envisioned as a sitting room for family chats, girlfriend wine nights, and couples’ conversations. The inspiration was taken from the vintage stereo cabinet, which the family uses regularly to play LP’s. Lighting, furniture frames, and textural rug all evoke the flavors of the ’60s and warmly invite its guests. The theme continues into the super functional study, using minimalistic furniture (including a recliner that doesn’t look like one!) and a custom-built cabinet with inset drawers and doors, providing tons of storage. The light fixture here is the perfect punctuation to this special space, keeping it open and airy.
The kitchen continues to boast minimalistic, yet prominent features. The sliding door, mid-century inspired seating and special glass top table (that has a self-contained extension when the party grows larger) are all unique pieces to define this spacious kitchen. Gold accents are throughout to warm up the space and keep it cozy.
Maxwell & Kennedy Staging + InteriorsWe had a big, bright open space to work with. We went with neutral colors, a statement leather couch and a wool rug from CB2 with colors that tie in the other colors in the room. The fireplace mantel is custom from Sawtooth Ridge on Etsy. More art from Lost Art Salon in San Francisco and accessories from the clients travels on the bookshelf from S=CB2.
European HomeThe Trisore by Element4 is a three-sided bay fireplace and comes in 3 sizes: the 95, the 100H, and the 140 (as seen here). Design options are endless. Here the hearth goes organic modern with the combination of wood and concrete.
Anushka ContractorAn 8 ft. simple teak wood finish main door gives way to a cozy living room doused in natural light streaming from a large window and a cute-as-a-button balconette. The wall between this room and the kitchen has been demolished and the open kitchen now effectively makes this living space appear larger. We laid wooden look tiles on the floor, pre-cut into 4 pieces and organized in the herringbone pattern. This is not only spread across the studio but also seeps up the living room main wall. Upon this wall, hangs an artwork specially commissioned to a young artist to be evocative yet flaunt the yellow and blue that ties the otherwise somber colours together.
Below this is a long chesterfield sofa in electric blue, an armchair upholstered in hounds-tooth with a gold, black and wooden frame. A wood and black glass center table set and a yellow and wooden side table set complete the seating set up. A custom rug in colours of our choice brings a touch of elegance to the room. Beside this is a white and wood console table with a round gold and wood finish mirror. A black skirting flows throughout the walls with a wood detailing as an added design detail.
