This striking architectural home showcases a bold, modern design with strong gable forms and a seamless blend of natural and industrial materials. The exterior features sleek black plaster cladding contrasted with stone chimney pillars and Abodo cladding details that add warmth and texture. Large gabled windows flood the interior with natural light and frame rural views, creating a sense of openness and connection to the landscape. With multiple wings connected by a central living space, the layout offers both privacy and flow—ideal for family living or entertaining. The landscaping is yet to be completed, giving a clear view of the home’s foundations and structure. Every element of this build reflects precision, quality, and the attention to detail that defines Mayhem Construction’s approach.

We were approached by our client to transform extend their existing modest farm house in rural Cheshire. Working within tight planning constraints in Greenbelt, we were able to maximise the potential of the building, working closely with the local authority planning department. The scheme maintains the traditional aesthetic of the original, locally listed building, using modern construction methods. The house benefits from extensive newly landscaped grounds to compliment the new open plan living spaces.

Great textures and details found all over the home, changing at night to a beautifully lit and inviting space

The brief for this project was for the house to be at one with its surroundings.
Integrating harmoniously into its coastal setting a focus for the house was to open it up to allow the light and sea breeze to breathe through the building. The first floor seems almost to levitate above the landscape by minimising the visual bulk of the ground floor through the use of cantilevers and extensive glazing. The contemporary lines and low lying form echo the rolling country in which it resides.

This detached 1930s house has been completely renovated, extended and remodelled to create a stunning family space. The wrap around glazing provides plenty natural light and a stunning view on the large sanctuary garden with mature trees. Scandinavian furniture and light colours give a light and dream like atmosphere. Upstairs features a newly remodelled main bathroom and an en-suite bathroom in the master bedroom.

The home’s design grew organically by the crossing of water, influenced by a nearby bridge linking the tree-lined property to the surrounding golf course. The design was also inspired by the Mid-Century architecture of Florida’s Golden Beach and the revival of the idioms associated with that movement. Exploring the intersection of architecture and place and context and creativity, the project’s sensitivity to the surrounding environment is expressed with a proliferate use of natural elements — like stacked white stone facades and support columns — further smudging the edges between exterior and interior.
Water surrounds the home; a koi pond and trickling fountains create a soothing entry. Inside, expansive plate glass walls and windows welcome the outdoors. Full-length windows double as folding partition doors and when peeled back, open the living room to the lanai, and pool deck while simultaneously providing a bridge between indoor and outdoor living. An open stair floats to a second floor catwalk that links north and south bedroom wings, and both contribute to the soaring volume of the interior spaces.
