STEPHEN FLETCHER ARCHITECTSWe were commissioned to transform a large run-down flat occupying the ground floor and basement of a grand house in Hampstead into a spectacular contemporary apartment.
The property was originally built for a gentleman artist in the 1870s who installed various features including the gothic panelling and stained glass in the living room, acquired from a French church.
Since its conversion into a boarding house soon after the First World War, and then flats in the 1960s, hardly any remedial work had been undertaken and the property was in a parlous state.

StairworksThis U-shaped, floating staircase was a renovation that was designed as an entryway masterpiece. Our Stairworks in-house designer worked closely with the homeowner to get the desired result, which the owners were very happy with.
The interior style of the home was modern contemporary, so the single stringer stairs were the only steel features in the home, making them a true focal point. The benefit of using steel in open risers with a glass balustrade is the fact that it lets so much light through, a great benefit to any home capitalising on natural light. However, when using glass there can be design challenges, which is why we used oak tread caps to cover the glass fixings for a smarter finish.

Atelier 3DANous avons choisi de dessiner les bureaux à l’image du magazine Beaux-Arts : un support neutre sur une trame contemporaine, un espace modulable dont le contenu change mensuellement.
Les cadres au mur sont des pages blanches dans lesquelles des œuvres peuvent prendre place. Pour les mettre en valeur, nous avons choisi un blanc chaud dans l’intégralité des bureaux, afin de créer un espace clair et lumineux.
La rampe d’escalier devait contraster avec le chêne déjà présent au sol, que nous avons prolongé à la verticale sur les murs pour que le visiteur lève la tête et que sont regard soit attiré par les œuvres exposées.
Une belle entrée, majestueuse, nous sommes dans le volume respirant de l’accueil. Nous sommes chez « Les Beaux-Arts Magazine ».
MUGARRI DECORACIONGran hall rústico a modo de salón de entrada. Decoración y mobiliario con un toque añejo que empasta perfectamente con la estructura de madera antigua.
UserBespoke plywood stairs and storage lead up to a sleeping platform in the eaves. Dark framed artwork pops against neutral brilliant white walls. Rope handrail adds additional texture and interest.

Studio Caroline BurgetLes clients n'aimant pas l'aspect de leur escalier, nous l'avons "intégré" à la pièce en créant un garde-corps plein comme un mur se fondant avec le mur du fond. Les contre-marches en bois ont été peintes tout comme le limon; les marches vernies. Nous en avons profité pour coffrer aussi le retour des marches et aménager un placard sous l'escalier. Petits détails esthétiques : un joli panneau de chêne aux côtés arrondis comme main courante et de belles poignées en bois sur les portes du placard. L'ensemble est vraiment intégré au style du salon et l'escalier disparait avec les murs.
Pear StairsThis exemplary oak winder staircase has been specifically designed to capitalise on the wealth of available natural light in the property. Positioned below sky lights, the stairs feature glass panel balustrades that let the light flow through the space. Instead of clamps, the panels are held in place by grooves in the handrail and baserail, contributing to the minimalist design ethos of contemporary interiors. The handrail, newel posts and newel caps have simplistic square forms that let the natural warmth and rich colour of the oak take centre stage. To add a touch of comfort, the client carpeted the stairs for a modern yet welcoming finish.
Mon Concept Habitation - LondonCe projet nous a été confié par une famille qui a décidé d'investir dans une maison spacieuse à Maison Lafitte. L'objectif était de rénover cette maison de 160 m2 en lui redonnant des couleurs et un certain cachet. Nous avons commencé par les pièces principales. Nos clients ont apprécié l'exécution qui s'est faite en respectant les délais et le budget.
