A stunning and spacious custom stone home's color was damaged by loose clay soil during the construction process. While landscaping surrounds the stone so that no further issues will occur, the damage done was impossible to reverse safely with cleaning. Stone veneer cannot be pressure washed or chemically washed without damaging it. A safe rinse with water or soft brush did not help. Rectilinear volumes are wrapped in horizontal clear cedar slatting with contrasting bronze anodized aluminum windows and doors and a weathering steel base. The homeowners didn’t want to cut down any of the surrounding trees on the property and chose to orient the home so that the forest was the primary view. The end result is a true “cabin in the woods” experience.
The home was designed with the master suite on the main floor, along with a dedicated exercise room, full laundry room and wrap-around sundeck. The ground floor features a spacious rec room, office, and the two additional bedrooms.
The finishes throughout the home are high end but rustic, including K2 Stone, Alder cabinetry, granite countertops, oil-rubbed bronze hardware, free standing soaker tubs in the bathrooms, hickory hardwood flooring, timber framing inside and out, and Hardie plank siding with cedar shingles.

For the remodeling of the exterior of the home, we installed all new windows around the entire home, a complete roof replacement, the re-stuccoing of the entire exterior, replacement of the window trim and fascia and a fresh exterior paint to finish.
Hom Personal InteriorsThey had an Apartment in Tokyo.
They had an Estate in Dallas.
But what they really wanted was to be, "At the Lake".
So they bought a contractor-built house nestled by a pristine Lake.
They Sighed at the beautiful view. They Sighed at the inside of the house.
They wanted it to feel more like them, more like a home.
SO... they called HOM.
After just 3 Meetings all agreed on what to do!
Make it Warm, Modern, Cozy, and Striking.
The Family left for Tokyo.
And HOM. went to work.
HOM. added a New Metal Railing.
HOM. added reclaimed wooden beams from nearby Barns.
HOM. added Large Original Art Pieces that were interpretations of the Rocks in the nearby Stream running through their Property.
HOM. added multi-functional seating. More Dramatic Lighting. Accessories that were personal but did not over “ooze” the Lake idea. It became a Personal HOM.
A HOM. they wanted, “At the Lake”.
When the Family returned from Tokyo for a Thanksgiving Gathering, all were stunned.
They now had, at last, a HOM. “At the Lake”.
Two Years later... One of the daughters was getting married.
The Parents offered to throw her wedding anywhere in the world she would like.
Her answer was, I want to get married...
"At the Lake".

Overlooking sweeping views to the South Downs the design of the house is composed of a series of layers, which echo the horizontality of the fields and distant hills.
Southern LandscapeIn addition to designing and building all of the outdoor and landscape amenities, Southern Landscape performed all of the stonework on this Texas Ranch House. The front of the home features extensive wrap-around porches with flagstone flooring and customer rock and iron railing. The stone staircase leads to a lower patio and stone wine cellar and grotto, with the attendant planters and retaining walls transitioning the yard to the front of the home.
