Contemporary Courtyard, Clapham

The previous garden had been filled with concrete: the integrated seating was leaky and uncomfortable, and there was a disused chimney which dominated the area. The family wanted the garden to feel larger (its only 32sqm), be a more social space and an extension of their very stylish kitchen. When the garden was cleared we discovered multiple old fences, so the boundary could be increased even further! The solution was to install smart hardwood battens vertically to designate a seating area, and horizontally for the dining and cooking area. Clay pavers and limestone slabs were also introduced to help with carving up the space. Then with clever pots, planting, lighting, furniture and a neat kitchen with the Big Green Egg the courtyard has been transformed. Not forgetting the bespoke climbing wall which is enjoyed by adults and children alike!
