Large urban family garden
Creating an inside/outside flow with the newly built extension, the design extends the boundaries of the house out into the garden. The planting is simple and striking, with some elements of formality to suit the style of the house and surroundings. The hard landscaping takes its design cues from the contrasts found between the modern extension and existing traditional brickwork of the house. Spaces for two young children to play, near the nursery and more informally further down the garden, reached by a winding path through a long border, were built into the design. The front garden offers a traditional approach to the house, but also a taste of the contemporary surprises of the back garden is signalled by the unusual blue planters.
