This 12 x 12 bathroom addition overlooks a year round creek in the woods. Our goals were to bring the outside in as much as possible by using natural materials and tying textures together. We also needed to consider universal design and incorporated some custom grab bars. Glass block was used to bring in light and preserve privacy, slate tile detailing between windows looks just like the tree bark beyond, and the pebble floor resembles the gravel bed of a creek. Also, to preserve the view over the vanity, we designed a custom mirror with a double action arm that allows it to pull away from the wall and pivot back and forth. The operable window brings in the sounds of the creek and birdsong.
