The open feeling, the patio design draws the eye back towards the sky. Also, the square pavers might work better than rectangular for the side path?
Modern, light colour (but too light and might cause glare?). Like the rectangular pattern.

I like the wide, wooden steps, with low projection into the lawn.
Interesting idea to mask the step projection into the lawn with a border. Not keen on the black bricks though!
