Seems like about the right size for the island
Maybe make the island out of the same wood we use for the ceiling joists. Basic I with massive solid top that overhangs in three directions and holds drawers on chef side. In middle n chef side is the induction stove with pop up vent. Filtered water would also be nice from here.
Why not use very bottom?
I like polished concrete for basement. Exposed wood beams look great too.
