Tall Tree House is a multi-award-winning biophilic home nestled in the native bush of Queenstown. Designed by Carolin Friese – CF Architecture, the house has received national recognition for its innovative use of space, connection to nature, and outstanding energy efficiency. Most notably, it won the Biophilic Design Award from the Living Future Institute of Australia, celebrating its seamless integration of architecture and landscape.
A true role model for sustainable design, the home demonstrates how Passive House principles, natural materials, and smart design can create a healthy, resilient, and inspiring living environment.

Replacing a modest weatherboard cottage, the project is a knockdown rebuild that responds to a highly constrained 460-square-metre site, bounded by the water to the front and a steep rocky reserve to the rear. With limited footprint and strict planning controls, the design adopts a vertical strategy to maximise floor area, views and amenity.
Designed as a home for entertaining, the residence is organised to place living spaces and experiences where they are most impactful. A rooftop infinity pool and entertaining terrace crown the building, freeing up ground-level space while delivering panoramic views across Brisbane Water to the Rip Bridge. This elevated outdoor zone becomes the home’s social heart, complete with an outdoor kitchen and amenities, all accessed via lift.

Sussex waterfront contemporary. This amazing contemporary family home is located on the waterfront in an area of outstanding natural beauty overlooking the harbour. The design has developed as a response to the location and to take advantage of views over the sea, countryside, and adjoining meadows. Every element of the architecture and interiors has been considered to maximise both form and function – beautiful contemporary design and practicality tailored to the client’s aesthetic sensibilities and lifestyle. The home features the use of Danish brick, cedar timber and a zinc roof all in a natural palette of materials on the exterior and neutral design scheme on the interiors using sustainable and natural materials.
The gardens have been designed to maximise the connection between indoor and outdoor spaces and include wildflower meadows, and soft and hard landscaping. A fabric first approach to sustainability has been used and the design allows for natural light to penetrate the building while considering shading and thermal gain. The interiors have been developed around functionality while employing a clean modern design and the use of warm natural materials. A true dream home with dream clients!
