Curtiss listened to our needs (even following my wife's Pintrest account), visited the site and surrounding neighborhoods, researched local requirements, and then QUICKLY synthesized all the information into plan and elevations that we could take to the architectural review board (ARB). We were able to complete the ARB review in one meeting, and then Curtiss worked with our contractor to develop the final contract documents. “Susan Bower did an outstanding job as the architect for the remodel of our condo at Lindell Terrace in the Central West End of St. Louis, MO. We purchased our condo for many reasons but one of the principal attractions was that this particular building allowed us to easily take down walls to open up the space and redo the layout to our liking. Susan was instrumental in helping design the perfect home for us. She started by trying to understand our vision and then offered alternative designs that took our initial thoughts and translated them into the clean, modern, practical, beautiful and elegant look we wanted. The use of lighting, something we had not focused on, was a creative way to enhance the space and give it a perfect atmosphere. Also, her vision on how to use all the space (where to put doors and where to move walls) was simply the best use of the space to achieve our goals. Besides her talents as an architect and designer, Susan demonstrated professionalism, competence and an ability to relate to people. Her communication skills and construction knowledge were evident when she was asked to help find solutions to construction related issues. “We've had a series of major renovations on our home and Mark has done the design/drawings for each phase of construction. We gutted a basement that required lowering the floor to get better ceiling height. We added a master bath/laundry upstairs. And most recently, we redesigned our kitchen and added a family room and office off the back of the house for a more open floor plan and additional living space. Mark did an excellent job of keeping the design in line with the look of the rest of the house, but the floor plan is more open which is hard to find in older homes (ours is close to 90 years old). We have loved the new addition and Mark did such a great job of figuring out what we really wanted and making it all work. “My wife and I gave Greg Worley of ARCH-WORX a real challenge: create an up-to-date master suite, move a basement garage to the main level and add space for a large storage room and exercise room to our 1935 era home. One of the primary goals was to maintain the home’s existing character and appearance with the added difficulty that the house was already built to the building setback lines. Challenge presented and Greg delivered in spades, creating spaces beyond what we ever imagined. Very limited by the existing stairs, half bath and inner foyer, ARCH-WORX developed a design utilizing beautiful cabinetry, white marble and generous spaces that accentuate the existing features of our home to create our master suite. The garage addition fits in perfectly with the existing house, simplifying our daily access routines and the storage and exercise rooms are creatively tucked under the new garage. Challenge met and exceeded.”
