We are in the process of adding a finished basement/media room, first floor mud room/powder room/family room, second floor master suite, and third floor bedroom/bath. “I engaged Harry to develop plans for a redesign/rebuild of a detached garage/studio. I very much enjoyed working with Harry. He listened to what I was looking for, both stylistically and with respect to the practicable use of the space, and designed a structure that I'm very happy with. It was an incremental and collaborative process and the final product is something I like visually and that also fulfills competing requirements (storage space, working space and guest space). The final plans look great. Everything was done on a timely basis and I thought fairly priced, especially given the quality of the work. “Project was to design and develop plans for a major exterior/interior renovation to a 1940s bungalow. During the initial process of interviewing architects, Mr. Martin listened to the objectives, asked questions, was open with give and take dialogue and subsequently defined a scope of work, cited a fee, and offered references. His respect for his profession was reflected in his work samples and follow through in the hiring process. The final architectural drawings were thorough, detailed and complete. They minimized contractor extras and eliminated builder shortcuts. On several occasions sub-contractors tried to cut corners only to have to redo work to comply with the plan's detailed callouts. Ultimately the detail of the drawings lead to the primary contractor's firing as he tried to compensate for his business as it suffered from the construction recession. That firing resulted in a Consumer Fraud complaint being filed; and the drawings' clear descriptive detail were noted by a state investigator's ongoing review, as a solid foundation for my charge. The architecture plan's cost were more an investment than an expense. As an aerospace component manufacturing business owner, I know the importance of blueprint details. The professionalism and final work product of WJM Architect, enabled my project to be addressed more efficiently within a scope of quality, in spite of a building contractor's internal financial challenges.”
