“Lane Williams took our dated and very tired looking 1960’s one story, pitched roof home with a daylight basement and transformed it into a beautiful modern home with strong horizontal and vertical planes and cantilevered masses.
Lane's vision for the house really came together when we decided to spend the money to expand the carport to two cars. We were thinking it might not work, but when he showed us the renderings we both just thought wow – it balanced everything out and got us a look that was spectacular. The finished house got great reactions from the neighbors, and it still thrills us when we overhear the bicyclists as they zip by saying ‘Cool House!’

“I was looking for someone deeply experienced in technical domains, (architecture, construction, and fabrication) to fit the requirements of my custom home, the Galer Street House. Thomas was tasked with production of the interior custom cabinetry and associated custom woodworking. From our first meeting, Thomas’s communication, experience and broad background gave me confidence that he would understand the complex geometries and be able to deliver the high-end quality needed for this application. From the custom handmade walnut cabinets, custom furniture-like features and being always available to help me when the details needed his attention, he delivered. I was not disappointed.
In addition, when challenged by architectural details and budget constraints on the exterior of the home, Thomas, owner of Studio Walker Architects, Inc., was able to take a large burden off my shoulders with his durable design/build approach, which was substantially less expensive and also resulted in a better overall appearance. During the development period, Alev provided us with many ideas and details of our design. Throughout the development and construction phase, she was sure to see that the design details were fully executed, always communicating her ideas and incorporating our ideas as well.
Today after living in our home for several years, we are still in awe of the many details she designed and brought to us. Our home was recognized in Luxe magazine, Spring 2012 issue as well as Pacific NW magazine, May 12, 2013.

Punched out the roofline to create a dramatic front porch that casts lighting into a beautiful cedar ceiling you can see from a block away. We have the most unique craftsman on the block that is both beautiful and functional. Highly recommend!!”

“My wife and I have a difficult lot to build a house on due to its irregular slope, steep in some areas. In order to have a view of Puget Sound the main floor had to be as high as possible. Before hiring Rhodes Architecture + Light we met with a few builders who do their own design work. They were unable to come up with an acceptable way to achieve the floor height we need. This drove us to look for an architect. We selected Tim Rhodes because we liked his portfolio of completed projects and after meeting him felt we could trust him to do the job. Tim came up with a very clever design that incorporated all our requirements. We've been living in the house 14 months and are quite pleased. Tim's design gets many compliments from first time visitors. The only reason I didn't give Rhodes Architecture + Light five stars is cost estimation and control. Our construction cost ended up 40% above my desired target. To be fair this is common when building a house.”

We were first time builders so he helped us with many under water stones. Together we remodel and improve 5 warehouses for our busy online boutique store and no one felt inconveniences, as the general contractor that he recommended, was excellent, very knowledgeable and his team did amazing job and worked fast. Since that time, Mark has supported several creative designs to include an in-law apartment and the planning of a home I wish to build in Bend, OR. His responsiveness when I have questions and the ideas he offered have been tremendously helpful and I consider him an ultimate professional in his work. “This is a recommendation fo. Eli Grassley, engineer, and Linda Makin, architect of ESG Design. Eli and Linda collaborated with me to on a rather complex renovation, producing architectural drawings and structural calculations for converting an unused attic apace of a 1929 house in the Seattle into a habitable living space, adding almost 500 sq ft. to a house with only about 880 sq ft. on one floor. Though out the process, they were both courteous, quick to respond to my questions and most amenable to the many suggestions I had for changing the design to either create a more efficient use of the space or accommodate material purchases (such as windows) that I made. The cost was most reasonable and I would have no hesitation in either recommending them to other clients or using them again myself. Since their work only involved the design stage and I have not yet begun construction, I do not have any pictures to contribute.”
