“We met Doug while searching for a new home. Our realtor recommended him to us. We knew we wanted to find a place in town and then renovate it. Doug actually worked with us on 2 posibilities that fell through and then with the 3rd which we bought. He did the leg work on all 3 with the town hall and the building inpector to make sure we could do the renovations we were thinking of for them prior to making an offer. While working with Doug on our plans we found him to be very professional - always willing to meet with us and incorporate the changes in the designs to meet our vision. “When we were ready to build in Orleans, we started going to "Open Houses" to gather ideas for our dream home. Pine Hills in Plymouth was offering tours of their model homes and we found the perfect layout for our new home during that visit. We asked for the name of the architect, and it was, Tim Luff, of Archi-Tech Associates. After meeting with Tim, we knew that we had found the perfect person to design our house. We had very high standards and a firm (relatively modest) budget, but we wanted an exceptional house with strong design elements as well as ideal living space. Tim incorporated every wish that we had, and his design was more beautiful that we had imagined. People actually drive by our house and take photos, and whenever anyone comes through the front door for the first time, they always exclaim, "what a beautiful house"! A local designer actually knocked on our door this past fall to ask if he could use our home for the Cape Cod Home Winter 2015 “Welcome Home” issue. We agreed - our home has the starfish motif in that edition. Working with Tim, and the builder that he recommended (Jared West, Rafter Craft) was such a pleasant and reassuring experience. Archi-Tech Associates is a highly professional, experienced, talented firm with impeccable integrity. There were no surprises along the way; we received expert guidance, and Tim made frequent visits to monitor the build process. One last thing- I wasn't sure that Archi-Tech would be interested in designing our home, as it is more modest than many of the other magnificent homes that he has designed. After meeting with Tim, we realized that he was eager to design an aesthetically beautiful home for us on a smaller scale, which would incorporate all of the special details that make larger homes so spectacular. He succeeded- we couldn't be happier and we thank Tim and his team at Archi-Tech Associates for designing such an outstanding home for our family.”

“Over 30 years ago, early in his career, Sam Sherman worked on the design of the Chilmark home of our best friends. Our friends introduced us to the Vineyard, and were always very happy with the efficiency of their home and the excellent use of light. When we were able to purchase our own home on the island, Sam was our first choice as a designer, given the positive experience our friends had over the years. We purchased a dark, dingy home and did a near tear down of the existing structure. Sam saw what we did not see, that by reorienting the house we came away with incredible light and views. The design plan he provided not only gave us incredible views but the detail enabled the Contractor to bid the job to the penny. We needed a variance from the town to execute the plan and did not want to buy the house until we knew we could make the changes. Sam’s team dealt with the Edgartown planning board very effectively and efficiently to get the job approved in only 4 weeks. Because we are not full time residents of the island, we also had Sam run the contractor selection process and provide construction oversight. We have built a number of homes before but never have we been on budget and on schedule and never before have we been as pleased with the end result. “Michael is a very capable and creative architect. I had the good fortune of acquiring his professional help and contracted with him to expand the first level of our “cape” house in Mattapoisett. We originally thought of modifying a previous family room addition to use as the basis of our new plans. Michael looked into that structure and determined that because of some floor issues and wall cracks that it was not structurally sound enough to use. I had full confidence in Michael’s recommendation; so, although it would cost more to destroy that structure and start over, we agreed. As the first phase started, my contractor ran into a very disturbing issue where the foundation of the initial addition was unstable. Michael was correct in his analysis. Michael is very thorough and meticulous. I highly recommend Michael Silva as your architect.”
