There was a culture of sensitivity to our needs throughout the firm and skillful handling of issues as they inevitably cropped up. The firm worked with our century old house to bring it into the modern age, by retrofitting an amazing kitchen into limited space and converting an unusable attic space into a dream master bedroom suite with dormers, increasing our living space significantly. We highly recommend this firm!”

“I thought that finding an honest contractor who follows through with what they promise would be impossible but decided to take the chance with Essential and finally do my first renovation. I was very nervous at first but the contractor Peter was extremely patient and was with me every step of the way. His team which included a talented designer put together a picture perfect kitchen, powder bathroom and master bedroom bathroom. I was blown away by the attention to detail and if you’re looking for a wonderful experience limiting your stress level for such a major project then Peter and his team are a great fit.”

“Lisa Gilbert, LPG Architect, performed two jobs for us. In 2008, she designed a porch and mudroom. In 2013, she designed a two-story addition that included a new master bedroom suite and kitchen, and a reconfiguration of existing space. In connection with the latter project, Lisa also represented us before the zoning board for a small variance. We found Lisa very professional and accommodating of our schedules. She initially presented us with multiple ideas and was detail oriented in the design process. The result is fantastic. She considered important drainage/water issues that were important for the design and we could not be more pleased with the space. We highly recommend Lisa.”

“I live in Manhattan and have a country house in the Catskills upstate. The house is a contemporary design built in the mid 1970's. The "bones" were great but the aesthetic was completely wrong. We had Kimberly redesign the interior of the entire house - from moving electrical work, plumbing, windows and walls to choosing finishes and fixtures. She is amazing and I have referred her to many friends and clients. Next.... the apartment.”

“When my husband and I took on the project of completely renovating an 1846 Greek Revival house in the back country of Greenwich, we ran into difficulties with the architect we had hired. Doug VanderHorn came to our rescue! Many architects might have been unwilling to take on a project that had already started, but Doug, to my everlasting gratitude, not only agreed to work with us, but brought fresh, new, creative and improved ideas to the table. His taste is impeccable and he ended up helping me with all kinds of related issue like bathroom tiles, special effects in moldings and fireplaces and placement of furniture in a difficult room. “I hired ROAM Design to design an addition of a family room to my home. In doing so, I wanted to maximize the current space I had, add the room and update my kitchen to make the space family friendly, open and comfortable. In planning the addition, Amy met frequently with my husband and I to get an understanding of what we wanted. She offered suggestions and options, always mindful of our budget and preferences. Her drawings were detailed and thorough, which enabled us to visualize the addition and helped our contractor price the work for us. Amy was always available and responsive to our questions and needs. Her fee was fair and she was upfront and honest regarding all costs. My husband and I were extremely pleased with all aspects of the work ROAM Design did for us and would highly recommend them. Amy went beyond her responsibility as our architecture in communicating with our contractor and providing suggestions to us. She is very detail-oriented and the details she incorporated into our addition are what makes it so special.In addition to adding value to our home, we love our addition and the opportunities it has afforded my family as a place to comfortably relax, spend time together and entertain.”
