“My husband is very handy so we knew he could do the work. Problem was we didn’t have a design plan. I decided to call a professional. From the initial phone call, I felt I could work with Becky. She asked lots of pertinent questions, and I scheduled a home consultation. The project was a living room in a 30 year old house which hadn’t been redecorated in 20 years. We have views of a lake, so a nautical theme seemed natural. After much discussion, Becky suggested a “nautical shabby chic decor” complete with chandelier and seashells. She mentioned several architectural changes, such as taking down a 3/4 high wall near the stairs and installing a horizontal window over the fireplace. Just these 2 ideas added much-needed light into the room. We added white faux beams to the ceiling, a warm ash hardwood floor, and gorgeous grey walls (not a color I would have considered until I saw her picture board). What I especially liked was that she also helped me choose some wonderful, inexpensive accent pieces - a 4 foot sailboat on a shelf over our piano, cut glass lamps to enhance the chandelier, and a beautiful golden rug. These were found in consignment stores! We found Becky easy to talk to and she had out-of-the-box ideas! She listened to what we told her. She is an excellent communicator, and doesn’t try to talk you into something you are not comfortable with. Becky was reliable and when she says she will call you, she does. We would definitely recommend her to anyone who is thinking about a design plan. The outcome is a stunning room that we will be able to enjoy for years to come!”

“Marcye Philbrook did interior design work for us over a period of about a year. She is not only a great designer, but a delightful person to interact with in every way. Marcye is a good listener — she quickly understood what we were looking for and adapted her proposals to suit our tastes and sensibilities, while also introducing us to a lot of creative, new ideas. She even expertly negotiated differences between me and my husband, searching for products and regenerating designs until she could please us both. Her design concepts for the rooms in our home were natural, practical, designs-to-live-in. She has a wonderful sense for color and texture — I particularly enjoyed working with her to choose fabrics for pillow sets for our den and living room. The results were quite different for the two rooms, but each set is like a little artwork in itself, with a few fun, specially constructed patchworks that she put together thinking about both design and efficient use of the fabric. She also has great contacts for painters, wallpaperers, rug dealers, seamstresses, cabinet makers, etc., and was able to subcontract directly or guide us to businesses that were honest and reliable and who provided excellent quality products and services. When we realized we had a very tight spot for a bathroom sink, she custom designed a cabinet herself to maximize the use of the space and even made the trip to the marble company warehouse to personally choose the cut of stone to use for the top. I love Marcye and I’d hire her again in a heartbeat.”
