Dave Lunden was honest, very reliable and extremely organized. The project was finished on time and on budget. It progressed exactly as he said that it would with no hidden costs or delays. The Project Manager and all of the subcontractors were a pleasure to deal with on a daily basis. They shared in our enthusiasm, were polite, highly skilled, hard working and responsive. I have spoken with several people who have had extensive renovations done to their home and frequently it was a stressful and unpleasant experience for them. I can honestly say that our experience with Timberlake was the opposite. “Spectrum has done a full bathroom and basement renovation for us, in addition to several smaller projects including replacing all the exterior doors to the house and refinishing our front porch. The quality of the work is excellent. Communicating for the purpose of planning and providing feedback is easy due to their rapid response and liberal use of email and cell contact. They responded well to feedback regarding the work site when we had complaints about dust and so forth. The quality of their work holds up; our bathroom completed in 2008 continues to be in terrific condition. They were described by the person who referred them, an architect, very accurately. "They're not the cheapest, but they're the best." I highly recommend them.”

“My husband and I had debated for several months if we should move to a larger space, or renovate our current home for our expanding family. I had brought this up with Rick Byrd, the owner of Byrd Design and Build (BDB), and he immediately came to our house to talk with us through all of our options. He walked through our house and really gave us some amazing plans to make the space we already had more usable and more modern and up to date. This was the perfect option for us, considering we were expecting our first child. He laid out all of the different renovation plans we could have and really helped us envision a space catered to our wants and needs. My husband works from home, so we thought it was going to be a difficult journey to do an almost complete gut job of our basement and first floor kitchen/bedroom/bath, but BDB did an amazing job accommodating him and being cautious of the space we weren’t renovating. During the construction process, all of the subcontractors of BDB were extremely nice, non-invasive and very courteous of everything in the house. Darren, the project manager, was always attentive and mindful of our timeline, which was shortened due to the arrival of our new baby. We have the perfect new nursery, brand new kitchen and bathroom, and an entirely finished basement all just in time for our son. Everything was completed in a timely fashion and in pristine condition. We are obsessed with our basically “new” house!”

“While still living in Tokyo, I tried to renovate my condo I purchased last autumn in Washington, DC. The condo was about 40 years old from the previous renovation and I needed to renovate the whole kitchen area and the part of the bathroom. TJ offered to use a teleconference system that allowed us to communicate face to face on video while looking at the drawings on a computer screen. This system was very helpful because I had to finalize the detail of the drawings while I was in Tokyo. I met TJ face to face only twice: To determine the detail of the renovation for the first time, and to check the completion at the second time. He also negotiated with the manager of the condo to get an approval for the renovation. One of my major goals of this renovation is to set up the exhaust ducts from the kitchen to the outside. I am so happy to find out that Case was able to set up exhaust ducts from the kitchen to the outside of the condo by restoring old unused exhaust ducts. I highly recommend TJ’s professionalism and Case’s performance to those who are looking for an efficient contractor to renovate your kitchen and bathroom. “Landis is simply, the cream of the crop, I'm qualified to say it. I know it because I've had Landis come three times now, since 2007, have seen the quality of the work they do, but just as importantly, the excellence they show by bringing the client/s into the process, every step of the way. When you work with a design build firm, you have the benefit of working with those who understand today's current costs. Unlike architects who have seasoned understanding, a design build firm knows what wallboard costs this week. With computer assisted design, you can get under the hood with designers and try something here, or move something there. Great fun, they 'let you drive' sometime, you're part of an evolutionary decision process. No need for 'change orders' if you were there at the planning. With each of three projects, Landis had to go through the county historic board. Much of it is prior experience with them, telephone contact, but Landis actually showed up to the evening board hearing...I did not. Shows their level of excellence. It's pathfinding for Landis and for Historic itself, dealing with top drawer professionalism. With this current project, Landis designed the deck that translated perfectly from what I stated, I.e., good design and sturdy. Rather than worry that 'this fella who works from the back of the truck' is doing it right, Landis has given methodical attention and has had inspections as the permitting requires. The stairs have three stringers, the previous deck staircase had but two, and the stairs wobbled in a short time. Landis is an asset to the DC Metro area. On the 2007 project, I learned from the electricians and plumber....they want to work with Landis. As for why, I guessed right....Landis is above board, keeps tight timelines, streamlines so nobody shows up only to have to wait around. Plus, they're just fun to work with, knowledge aside. Told them, it's like having brothers-in-law in the trades and not having to buy the beer.”

“We choose Bay Kitchens to renovate our very outdated kitchen. We met Debbie on her initial visit to our home. Debbie was very knowledgeable, professional and informative. My husband and I didn't always agree, yet Debbie always found a wonderful compromise we were both happy with. We had always heard renovations like these could be a nightmare. Our renovation was the COMPLETE opposite. We did not encounter any problems - if we did I'm sure Debbie handled them promptly and efficiently. We were given a schedule at the beginning of the renovation & it was followed. We knew what was happening each day & how long the particular renovation was going to take. I personally had many questions & concerns along the way. Each e-mail or voice mail to Debbie was always returned within half an hour if not sooner.
