“I needed to renovate my elderly mom's Toronto condo. It was in bad shape. Nobody would go in. I was moving mom to Calgary and I wanted to rent her place right away for her and I didn't know any contractors in Toronto. I received a quote from Cozy Casa Homes. The next day Cozy Casa Homes met me at the condo, took measurements, came back with the best quote of four I had, negotiated fairly then started demolition three days later on Oct 7. I went back to Calgary on day 2 and Cozy Casa Homes sent me progress photos every day and completed the job completely unsupervised by me. Day 1 while I was there, everything was removed and new materials started coming in. Within two days I had 3D layouts of the new kitchen cabinets and counters. In week 2 the tile and floor was already in and in the third week the entire kitchen was installed and it was DONE and ready to be rented in less than 3 weeks. I was really happy because Cozy Casa Homes took care of everything. They picked materials, paint colours, flooring and tile, bathroom fixtures, tub, toilet, vanity, installed a complete new kitchen with cabinets, pantry and built a separate laundry room. All of the electrical outlet, switchplates and door handles were replaced with new. Fan and heating vents were all repaired and refinished. All of the lighting was replaced with new LED lights. It was a complete modernization. Cozy Casa Homes brought in all the vendors and subs needed to install and complete the job. I was 2000km away looking after mom and these guys took care of everything. They were nonstop every day. They worked with the building management who reported that Cozy Casa Homes was excellent to work with and kept things clean and adhered to all the condo regulations. Cozy Casa Homes went beyond and found an excellent vendor for appliances and coordinated delivery. Cozy Casa Homes found me a broker for insurance after mom's RBC Insurance refused to provide liability and renter insurance. Cozy Casa Homes kept in touch daily and stayed on budget. On October 27 I had a brand new home and was able to rent it Nov 1. It was gorgeous and lots of people were knocking on the door to rent it as word spread throughout the building. If you have a project, you can't go wrong using Cozy Casa Homes. They were honest and respectful of my mom's property and the hurdles I faced. They respected the people in the building affected by the construction. The people at Cozy Casa Homes all have an excellent work ethic and have an amazing team of workers and vendors who obviously get things done quickly and efficiently. Never in my life have I had someone do such an amazing job in less than three weeks. Highly recommended.”

“Harrison and Co helped us turn our 1838 stone one bedroom cottage into a 3 + 1 bedroom, 3 1/2 bath home with an attached double garage and new utility basement. Everything they did to our house was done with integrity, honesty and pride in excellent workmanship. They oversaw every detail, from the big job of digging out a basement and a foundation for the 2 car garage, to assisting us with paint colour choices. They did it in budget and on time. Our dealings with every member of their crew was never anything but positive. We went on to recommend them to other friends and family members and they, in turn, have recommended them to others. We now want to re-do our kitchen and I wouldn't dream of going with anyone else.”

“Overall, we were very happy with Penguin and the finished product was of high-quality. Claudio, our finishing supervisor should get an 11/10. He showed incredible professionalism, skill, and commitment to making the customer happy. He ensured all the issues we faced were rectified. He was so personable, responsive to our needs, and genuinely knew his stuff. If Penguin has any concept of what is good for their company, they will make sure he never leaves and promote him right to the top. People who were also particularly helpful and clearly put the customer first include Robert, Joe and Angelo. They all played their part in trying to make the process as smooth as possible. Along the way, our primary frustrations were of the poor communication. We often had no concept of which trade was coming and trades sometimes did not know how to access the lockbox. The Calendar was not updated beyond the first day. Probably the biggest frustration was the lack of presence or availability of our assigned site super, Walter. Severe floating floor and issues with sanding of the walls could’ve all been detected along the way. Instead, they had to be dealt with at the end of our project and only thanks to Claudio were they addressed in a thorough manner. After these issues, I do think Penguin would benefit from having a customer care service or quality assurance department which the customer could reach out to throughout the duration of the project. In our case, we often did not know who to communicate with for a given issue and ended up calling multiple people at one go. Needless to say, this took time and added stress and for the premium that you are paying, this should not happen. My advice to any future customers would be to make sure you know exactly what you want done ahead of time and have a very concise plan. Things move very quickly and there is very little margin of error to fix things. As a result, I think it is imperative for homeowners to be involved in every step of the project to make sure any mistakes can be fixed right away. Despite some of our minor frustrations, clear positives were there adhererence to a promised timeline, the very professional trades, scheduling flexibility with the start date depending on our schedule, the high quality of finishings, and again, the amazing Claudio. His help at the end of the project almost made us forget our frustrations during the project. He truly is a star and his commitment to customer satisfaction went above and beyond what we had expected. Overall, we are so pleased with our basement and are already thoroughly enjoying it. We would highly recommend Penguin (as long as Claudio’s part of the package), and would not hesitate to use them again.”
