Bespoke Oak Engineered Boards Installation in NW1 Holloway
We may say this floor is totally unique and there is none in London alike. Each board is individually cut to create a design pattern. To complete the exceptional appearance the floor joins seamlessly with the walls, not having a skirting or additional trims, the expansion gap being discreetly concealed.
This particular flat was previously a painter workshop and this was the cause of a sub-floor loaded with layer of thick gummy oil paints which were making impossible the installation of our floor. We tried different approaches to clean the screed and we ended-up painstakingly grinding it. The friable parts of screed were removed and patched with high strength boding mortar.
After we were pleased with the sub-floor an impact sound reduction membrane was glued over to cope with the footfall sound and to provide additional thermal insulation by separating the sub-floor from the wooden floor.
Also this allowed us to glue the engineered floor over the membrane thus achieving a solid floor.
A very important step was calculating the symmetry and centring the floor to obtain the best look and to avoid unexpected ends against the walls
