Stonehouse + Irons ArchitectureConcrete block walls provide thermal mass for heating and defence agains hot summer. The subdued colours create a quiet and cosy space focussed around the fire. Timber joinery adds warmth and texture , framing the collections of books and collected objects.
Blueprint Dreams LLCWe replace a small sliding door with a large double french door to allow the sunroom to be part of the living room space. This also allows more natural light into the living room. The TV-media wall is custom-built.

This unit, located in a 4-flat owned by TKS Owners Jeff and Susan Klimala, was remodeled as their personal pied-à-terre, and doubles as an Airbnb property when they are not using it. Jeff and Susan were drawn to the location of the building, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood, 4 blocks from Wrigley Field, as well as to the vintage charm of the 1890’s building. The entire 2 bed, 2 bath unit was renovated and furnished, including the kitchen, with a specific Parisian vibe in mind.
Although the location and vintage charm were all there, the building was not in ideal shape -- the mechanicals -- from HVAC, to electrical, plumbing, to needed structural updates, peeling plaster, out of level floors, the list was long. Susan and Jeff drew on their expertise to update the issues behind the walls while also preserving much of the original charm that attracted them to the building in the first place -- heart pine floors, vintage mouldings, pocket doors and transoms.
Because this unit was going to be primarily used as an Airbnb, the Klimalas wanted to make it beautiful, maintain the character of the building, while also specifying materials that would last and wouldn’t break the budget. Susan enjoyed the hunt of specifying these items and still coming up with a cohesive creative space that feels a bit French in flavor.
Parisian style décor is all about casual elegance and an eclectic mix of old and new. Susan had fun sourcing some more personal pieces of artwork for the space, creating a dramatic black, white and moody green color scheme for the kitchen and highlighting the living room with pieces to showcase the vintage fireplace and pocket doors.

Carole Vaudable Interior DesignThe purpose of this living room design was too keep a neutral base to focus on the bold art and vibrant decor elements. On the walls we can notice the cool and flowy lines of Willem de Kooning contrast the abstract Zao Wou Ki that feels like and erupting volcano. George Condo in the back comes to bring some chimerical pastoral landscape matching the pastel-colored Adler console beneath it.
The color palette was chosen to complement the art pieces without overwhelming them. I selected the furniture based on the scale and style of the paintings and placed it to create a focal point that highlights the art. The result is a cohesive space that showcases the artwork while still being functional and comfortable for daily use.

Anne Chemineau - Decor InterieurEspaces salon et salle à manger bénéficient d’une belle lumière depuis un bow window et balcon. La bibliothèque sur mesure en dépit de sa grande taille joue la carte de la discrétion avec sa teinte d’un vert très léger et dissimule la TV grâce à ses panneaux coulissants en cannage. Elle absorbe également les décalages de cloisons tout en délicatesse et rondeurs.
Anne Chemineau - Decor InterieurUne maison de maître du XIXème, entièrement rénovée, aménagée et décorée pour démarrer une nouvelle vie. Le RDC est repensé avec de nouveaux espaces de vie et une belle cuisine ouverte ainsi qu’un bureau indépendant. Aux étages, six chambres sont aménagées et optimisées avec deux salles de bains très graphiques. Le tout en parfaite harmonie et dans un style naturellement chic.
