Kristin Taghon Interior Designs, LLCClient is a young professional who wanted to brighten her kitchen and make unique elements that reflects her style. KTID suggested lowering the bar height counter, creating a rustic vs elegant style using reclaimed wood, glass backsplash and quartz waterfall countertop. KTID changed paint color to a darker shade of blue. The pantry was enlarged by removing the wall between the pantry and the refrigerator and putting in a pantry cabinet with roll-out shelves.

Throughout my career, I've worked with some hefty budgets on a number of high-end projects. You can visit Paris Kitchens and Somerset Kitchens, companies that I have worked for previously, to get an idea of what I mean. I could start name dropping here, but I won’t, because that's not what this project is about. This project is about a small budget and a happy homeowner.
This was one of the first projects with a custom interior design at a fraction of a regular budget. I could use the term “value engineering” to describe it, because this particular interior was heavily value engineered.
The result: a sophisticated interior that looks so much more expensive than it is. And one ecstatic homeowner. Mission impossible accomplished.
P.S. Don’t ask me how much it cost, I promised the homeowner that their impressive budget will remain confidential.
In any case, no one would believe me even if I spilled the beans.
Summit Designs LLCThese homemade cabinets needed a serious refresh. We took the tired, storage-lacking kitchen cabinets and turned it into a bright, rustic kitchen dream - all while keeping the existing floor plan! We used Rev-A-Shelf components for salvaging every inch of the cabinets which are a rustic looking Knotty Alder; as is the island which featured a custom made walnut butcher block.
To brighten the space, we used light colored Silestone countertops to complement the hammered copper sink and oil rubbed bronze faucet. To add to the ambiance, we used a chiseled travertine backsplash and toe kick & soffit lighting, adding LED lights in the cabinets to light-up when the doors were opened.
Artisan Custom ClosetsThis pantry was completed in white with shaker style drawers and doors and oil rubbed bronze hardware. The counter top is a matte finish to match the hardware. Corner shelves maximize the space with wire storage baskets for more diversity and functionality. There are also vertical storage shelves for large baking sheets or serving plates.
Elegant Hardwood FloorsSarah's kitchen and dining room had natural red oak floors that were in need of a refresh. Having grown up with white-washed hardwood floors back east, Sarah wanted to take that concept with a modern twist - so we decided on the grey stain. Playing off of the greys in the kitchen island and granite, the floors give a slight "aged barn wood" look to this beautiful space.
Studio MôntyThis light-filled open-plan kitchen is finished in calming light grey handleless cabinets and Duropal laminate worktop. This inexpensive design maximises the space, with a peninsula island providing additional countertop and dining space.
