Garden Structures & MoreThis client expressed to me that he had talked to several people that call their self pergola designers and I was the 1st one to come up with something that met his needs and wants. please note the holes in the concrete were the posts are setting. By putting the post in the ground we stabilize the structure immensely and today those holes are being used as planters for vines to grow out of.

Before this was just gravel and the fence had been taken over by ivy. Full lawn from seed to cut down on cost (£4) and most plants grown from seed. Planters built from repurposed material (used to be the wardrobe in the bedroom, including siding and trim).
Table was secondhand, chairs new. All pots inherited from last tenant and painted.
Ian Moore DesignEach of the materials was chosen for a balance of richness and simplicity. The Kebony decking continues the rich color tone set by the oiled Cedar shingle and traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban siding on the rear facade of the house. The California Gold Slate for the rear yard patio adds additional texture and depth to the ground plane. The powder-coated metal railings enclose the deck and partition the dog run and bike parking area from the main rear yard. The eclectic plant mix blends California natives with other Mediterranean plants for a variety of color, texture and seasonality.

Exterior of chicken run and pots for herbs on new, graceful stairs. The old chicken coop and run was demolished and a new, custom coop and run were tucked under the deck. and stairs. Star Jasmine isplanted around the run-- not harmful to chickens. As it grows it will blend the run into the garden and create more shady areas for the chickens. Human access to the run is concealed as one of the frame squares. The frame will be painted to match the house trim color. Dark vinyl coated chicken wire was used to be less visually noticeable. The stair pots provide room for herbs to grow.
