Eden CondensedA below street grade patio in browns and blues with tropical plantings. The goal was to make a lush garden setting that added privacy.
Ellsworth Design BuildThis deck restoration was a very gratifying project. It began with a concept of replacing all the framing, relocating the stairs and resurfacing the deck. Add in restoring the upper porches and replacing all the sliding doors. Once again we get to do great things with great products, like using durable decking, building materials and quality doors. The windows and decking material give the home owner year round outdoor living with the products we want to stand behind. And who wouldn’t want to stand of a deck with this view.

Sweet Smiling LandscapesWhen this homeowner’s neighbor removed two, two- story-high Ficus trees, her side-yard became baron and sunbaked. Concrete covers virtually the whole area from the house to the property line, but because the side-yard has a lot of foot traffic and serves as a sitting area to the basement apartment, the owner did not want to remove any of the concrete. The solution was to put up fencing to block the view of the neighbor’s house, then upcycle wine barrels and 55-gallon drums into huge planters. The drums are large enough to accommodate a full-sized tree and provide the added advantage of giving height to smaller trees to provide further screening of the neighbor’s house. Everything was painted in bright colors to give the space a cheery Caribbean feel. The neighbor’s tree removal ended up as a blessing in disguise, because what had been a drab trough-way was transformed into a happy patio.

With brilliant hues of foliage and flower, bromeliads explode with bursts of color in tropical or other colorfully themed spaces. Versatility is where this plant shines as it can easily be combined with other flora such as succulents and ferns. This unique species can often convey a primal, even prehistoric feel with its basic, bold bright colors and rough, oversized foliage. A delight to the eyes, brilliant bromeliads will stand out with style!
A Host of Things, LLCI made it more inviting by adding floor tiles, an outdoor rug and outdoor furniture in white, so as not to absorb the sun.
