This garden was transformed into a large safe accessible space for the whole family to enjoy. Featuring a large two tone porcelain patio, stepping stones, new lawn, cedar screening and a pergola at the rear these features help to structure the space and provide an interesting journey as the garden is explored

In this project, the challenge was to create a contemporary garden that is an extension of the living space from the house. I designed a series of garden rooms which had a different purpose but flow seamlessly together, from one space to the next. Large sliding doors from the open plan kitchen open out onto an enclosed deck with an intimate dining area. The spaces are linked by a cream Cotswold gravel path edged in light toned granite, which brings unity in the garden. Lawns at the front of the property are set into large Corten steel rings, softened by naturalistic planting of ornamental grasses and perennials carefully selected for the sandy free draining soil. The design provides spaces to relax and entertain enjoying the sunshine outside.

This traditional garden included a large sandstone patio that wrapped around the house and sloped down towards a summerhouse positioned to be in the sunniest part of the garden. The summerhouse and pergola were created with larch, oak and cedar and designed to have a rustic character. Steel steps in the lawn helped to transition from the upper lawn to the lower area.
