Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
This sloped hillside has been transformed into a beautiful tapestry of colors and textures present in every season. I specified drought tolerant plants and shrubs that are low-water, low maintenance and deer resistant. Located in Novato, CA - Marin County. Some photos were taken just after installation and others 2 couple of years later.

By adding a number of winding and intersecting paths and staircases the finished design allows the user to access almost all parts of the property.

THE KING'S MASONS
The client had planned on a patio but had no way to get to it! A steep slope was converted to an impressive stairway to access the walkway and patio we installed. We also handpicked and installed boulders to retain the earth on the hill, provide planting areas, and add visual interest.

Steep properties can turn into easily traversed outdoor spaces with garden stairs.
Here is a close up look of the natural stone steps carefully set into the hillside.

Luxuriant Gardens
Raised Cedar-faced Perennial Beds (constructed of pressure treated lumber) were constructed on either side of rear gate to reduce bed maintenance (annual lawn edging) and add interest to a backyard which originally had only a lawn and fence. The boxes were lined with landscape fabric to prevent weed intrusion from the wilderness area behind the fence and landscape fabric was also used to partially enclose the ornamental tree roots to prevent them from traveling into the bed.
