Contemporary Beachfront House, Carbis Bay, Cornwall
The challenge was to design a dwelling that would assimilate into the very sensitive landscape; on top of a cliff, above one of the main beaches in the area. A detailed Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment was completed by our landscape architects in order to inform the design and ensure that the proposed new building was at an appropriate scale.
A contemporary design was developed, ensuring that the new building would not be prominent & would be unobtrusive from the adjacent public highway. The natural sedum roof ensures the building blends into the hillside above, whilst full height glazing leading to the balconies provide 180 degree views out towards the bay.
