Custom Exposed Beams
We converted this attic space into a master ensuite. Originally the ceilings were barely 7' tall and made the space feel small and almost claustrophobic. So we wanted to get creative. Exposing the structural rafters and running drywall to the peak really opened the space up.
We didn't want to do the standard stained exposed beams we see so often. After a lot of research and ideas, we decided to turn the 2x6 rafters into I-Beams. Built out of wood, caulking was applied to appear like welding joints, and we brought it to life with rusted patina paint.
