Light, bright staircase. Open on "family room" side.
Closed on both sides (quieter) and could put a door with window on it at the bottom.
White makes it feel open although it's closed on both sides. Quieter from workshop.

Straight, plexiglass on the open side. Don't want it floating, however. Could put a door at the bottom to block out sound from the workshop.
