JRP Design & RemodelOur client came to us with a desire to take an overgrown, neglected space and transform it into a clean contemporary backyard for the family to enjoy. Having had less than stellar experiences with other contractors, they wanted to find a trustworthy company; One that would complement their style and provide excellent communication. They saw a JRP banner at their son's baseball game at Westlake High School and decided to call. After meeting with the team, they knew JRP was the firm they needed to give their backyard a complete overhaul.
With a focus on sleek, clean lines, this contemporary backyard is captivating. The outdoor family room is a perfect blend of beauty, form, and function. JRP reworked the courtyard and dining area to create a space for the family to enjoy together. An outdoor pergola houses a media center and lounge. Restoration Hardware low profile furniture provides comfortable seating while maintaining a polished look. The adjacent barbecue is perfect for crafting up family dinners to enjoy amidst a Southern California sunset.
Before renovating, the landscaping was an unkempt mess that felt overwhelming. Synthetic grass and concrete decking was installed to give the backyard a fresh feel while offering easy maintenance. Gorgeous hardscaping takes the outdoor area to a whole new level. The resurfaced free-form pool joins to a lounge area that's perfect for soaking up the sun while watching the kids swim. Hedges and outdoor shrubs now maintain a clean, uniformed look.
A tucked-away area taken over by plants provided an opportunity to create an intimate outdoor dining space. JRP added wooden containers to accommodate touches of greenery that weren't overwhelming. Bold patterned statement flooring contrasts beautifully against a neutral palette. Additionally, our team incorporated a fireplace for a feel of coziness.
Once an overlooked space, the clients and their children are now eager to spend time outdoors together. This clean contemporary backyard renovation transformed what the client called "an overgrown jungle" into a space that allows for functional outdoor living and serene luxury.

Ecoscape Environmental DesignLike many homes, the interior kitchen area is set towards the back of the house, and has easy access to the yard. While this might be convenient for getting to the grill, it does not necessary make it an outdoor 'destination place'. Ecoscape's designer re-imagined the space so that a new outdoor kitchen has room for meal preparation and places to sit. Colorful plantings replaced the tired old turf, with a Bloodgood Japanese maple as focal point in the sea of 'golden moneywort'. (The tree is young yet, but sports burgundy red leaves that will turn brilliant scarlet in fall. This maple is the perfect size for this application and will mature to 15-20 feet.)
Quarry MillThis exquisite residential outdoor living fireplace highlights the Quarry Mill's Stonegate natural thin stone veneer. Stonegate natural stone veneer brings an assortment of gray and tan tones with a sandstone texture. It comes in several rectangular sizes with squared edges. Stonegate is a great choice when creating a staggered block layout that still needs to look natural. This stone works well for large and small projects like accent walls, siding, and smaller projects like mailboxes. The light colors will blend well with both rustic and contemporary homes or businesses.
3 Twelve General ContractingConverting a standard builder grade deck to a fabulous outdoor living space, 3 Twelve General Contracting constructed the new decks and roof cover. All lumber, TREX decking and railing supplied by Timber Town Atlanta. Stone for fireplace supplied by Lowes Home Improvement.
TCP Custom Outdoor LivingThe custom built wood burning fireplace is the focal point of the project. It is centered along the side wall and creates a nice privacy wall. The extra seating under the windows is perfect for when the family is entertaining.
Conscious Environments Inc.This California room features a limestone fireplace, linear insert, TV entertainment center w/ outdoor speakers, outdoor heaters, lighting, and an adjacent outdoor kitchen and swimming pool. It's a contemporary space with hints of farmhouse design and the gray, white, and neutral colors create a simple elegance.
