In the renovation for a family mews, ALC met the clients need for a home to escape to. A little space where the client can tune in, wind down and connect with the beautiful surrounding landscape. This small home of 25m2 fits in everything the clients wanted to achieve from the space and more. The property is a perfect example of smart use of harmonised space as ALC designed and though through each detail in the property. The home includes details such as a bespoke headboard that has a retractable lighting and side table to allow for access to storage. The kitchen also integrates additional storage through bespoke cabinetry, this is key in such a small property. Drawing in qualities from the surrounding landscape ALC was able to deepen the client’s connection with the beautiful surrounding landscape, drawing the outside in through thoughtful colour and material choice. ALC designed an intimate seating area at the back of the home to further strengthen the clients relationship with the outdoors, this also extends the social area of the home maximising on the available space.

This was a genuinely delightful project! We were invited by a previous client to design the interior of her stunning, perfectly-formed shepherds hut, crafted by the bespoke makers at Red Sky. The structure had arrived painted, leaving me with the exciting task of creating a complete colour scheme and concept to inform a detailed sourcing list. The hut itself is a masterclass in clever design, boasting an adaptable layout that maximises every inch. By day, it’s a functional living area with a folding table, chairs, and a comfortable sofa; by night, the sofa slides flat to reveal a cozy double bed, with bedding stored neatly in the custom headboard the following morning. To achieve the desired organic and romantic feel, the window dressings were critical. We selected Baker Lifestyle’s Seaton Stripe in Aqua/Red - fabric that delivered a rich and impactful pattern. This was used for custom blackout Roman blinds and a full-length curtain with a tie-back for the doorway. A contrast lining was added so the design could be appreciated even from outside. Finally, carefully chosen accessories like mirrors, additional shelving, lighting, and plush cushions completed the space, adding layers of warmth and luxury.

A garden annexe with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of daylight. Our clients contacted us after deciding to downsize by selling their main house to their daughter and building a smaller space at the bottom of their garden. The annexe is tucked away from the busy main road and overlooks the forest grounds behind the property. This creative solution proves to offer the perfect combination of convenience and privacy which is exactly what the couple was after. The overall style is contemporary industrial and is reflected in both the exterior design and the interior finishes.
