Oak Brook Master Bath Remodel
In remodeling the client’s bathroom, the homeowners wanted to create a more luxurious space that fit their lifestyle, with a separate make up area and a freestanding tub. We were able to capture some space from an adjacent linen closet in order to accommodate the new seated make up area across from the vanity. This allows for a little more space at the make up area and a little less congestion at the vanity. By removing an oversized tub deck in the corner of the room and replacing it with a freestanding tub, the floor space of the room opened up tremendously allowing for a much more open feeling as you enter the room.
We increased the overall volume of the room by lifting the flat ceiling into a tray ceiling and accenting it with rope lighting around the perimeter and a chandelier in the center of the room. The new sconces at the vanity and the seated make up area coordinate with the chandelier and are complimented by LED cans. LED cans were also used over the tub to increase energy savings and reduce the frequency of bulb changes over time.
The materials that were used in this bathroom complete the feeling of luxury. Onyx was used for the floor tile as well as the counter top for the vanity and make up area. Since the Onyx paired with the wallpaper are so elegantly dramatic, it was important to offset them with a more peaceful painted finish on the maple cabinets.
