Hi Bek , I have nearly the same setup as you ,in Brisbane. The windows to the west were very hot so I had the glass solar- coated and put blinds for the sunlight in the afternoon. This solved the heat problem. When they are open in summer the cross breeze from my eastern deck is great . My pantry has no window but if you put one in you will get the breezes going through from the north as I do from my front door through to the northern deck .
