The living room at Highgate House. An internal Crittall door and panel frames a view into the room from the hallway. Painted in a deep, moody green-blue with stone coloured ceiling and contrasting dark green joinery, the room is a grown-up cosy space.

Over the course of a year, we were entrusted with renovating an existing property for a client, transforming it into their ideal family home. This included adding an extension and developing the basement to create a luxurious leisure suite. The Edwardian property retained many of its original features, which we carefully preserved and integrated throughout the rest of the home.

The living room is a room we really wanted introduce lots of plush seating options for all the family, from the two sofas to the matching boucle armchair and footstool. Texture and colour played a key role in here, creating insterest and depth to the heart of the home.

A pair of soft linen sofas arranged around a marble coffee table form the central seating area, set atop a richly patterned rug that anchors the space with warmth and tradition. Natural light pours in from the adjoining conservatory, where glass doors open to an additional sitting area overlooking the garden. Contemporary elements — such as the timber slatted feature wall, circular pendant light, and bespoke illuminated shelving — bring balance and texture, while curated artworks and plants add a personal, homely touch. The room flows effortlessly between old and new, formal and casual, making it ideal for both quiet retreats and family gatherings.
