London Villa Reinvented
To link the main living floor to the garden, we replaced the rear windows with a pair of tall french doors leading to a galvanised steel and aluminium balcony. The stony-coloured GRP canopy blends with the buff render and allows the doors to be left open in rainy summer weather.

Like many Early Victorian semis, my own house had a single door from the raised ground floor to the rear garden half a level down. We lowered the sill of the main rear kitchen/ dining room window and replaced it with a pair of very tall glazed doors, To connect this to the garden, we added a light galvanised steel balcony with translucent Neaco aluminium grid deck with a few steps down to a new raised terrace.
