Sunroom addition leads off the family room which is adjacent to the kitchen as viewed through the french doors. On entering the house one can see all the way back through these doors to the garden beyond. The existing recessed porch was enclosed and walls removed to form the family room space.

This gracious patio is just outside the kitchen dutch door, allowing easy access to the barbeque. The peaked roof forms one axis of the vaulted ceiling over the kitchen and living room. A Kumquat tree in the glossy black Jay Scotts Valencia Round Planter provides visual interest and shade for the window as the sun goes down.

The single car garage built in 1925 was located on the property line. The replacement structure needed to be located on the same footprint. The height was made taller, but was still in keeping with the scale of the main house. A Covered patio trellis was built off the side of the garage with slide wire awnings to provided shade in the summer and sun in the winter.

This simple brick ranch already had a stout pathway of redstone pavers and thick cut steps when our designer came out to meet the prospective client, but the rest of the yard was 'literally' drowning in a slope-sea of turf. The lone tree in front was frankly, lonely-looking. To take advantage of this sunny location, Ecoscape's designer, Sue Rigdon, pared down the amount of turf, and tapped into to pathway-stair focal point. By nesting moss-rock boulders along the stairs, pocket plantings of delosperma (ice plant), sedums ('dragonsblood' & 'Angelique'), and 'Snow in Summer', enjoy a protected 'micro-climate'. The diversity of perennial plants are much easier to tend to, and provide pollinator forage, instead of turf-monoculture with no pollen.

This xeric landscape design is based on a desire for a front yard that is not only water wise, but colorful, interesting, and bird and bee friendly. I was able to use some water saving ideas for the garden while working around the homeowner’s beautiful and mature silver maple tree. We started by removing all of the thirsty turf and installing a drip irrigation system that efficiently waters each plant individually at its roots.
I then designed a water wise front yard garden with bermed areas for contour, moss rock boulders for year round visual interest, pathways for navigating the garden, evergreen plants for winter greenery, and shrubs and perennials that bloom from early spring to late fall for as much color as possible through three seasons. The homeowners wanted a very detailed plant design, so I created two versions of the design, one with a plant key and the other with plant labels.
The plant pallet features xeric shrubs and perennials that attract pollinators such as bees, hummingbirds, and butterflies. Many of the shrubs provide berries, not only for the birds, but also for the homeowners to enjoy. There are perennial herbs, medicinal plants and Colorado natives in the landscape design as well. This variety of plants transformed the front yard into a space that is water wise and functional as well as beautiful.

The existing kitchen was completely remodeled to create a compact chef's kitchen. The client is a true chef, who teaches cooking classes, and we were able to get a professional grade kitchen in an 11x7 footprint!
The new island creates adequate prep space. The bookcases on the front add a ton of storage and interesting display in an otherwise useless walkway.
The South wall is the exposed brick original to the 1900's home. To compliment the brick, we chose a warm nutmeg stain in cherry cabinets.
The countertops are a durable quartz that look like marble but are sturdy enough for this work horse kitchen.
The retro pendants are oversized to add a lot of interest in this small space.
