Bay Area Home DesignMoorish styled bathroom features hand-painted tiles from Spain, custom cabinets with custom doors, and hand-painted mirror. The alcove for the bathtub was built to form a niche with an arched top and the border thick enough to feature stone mosaic tiles. The window frame was cut to follow the same arch contour as the one above the tub. The two symmetrical cabinets resting on the counter create a separate “vanity space.
Dynamic Garage DoorSpanish Garage Doors come in different design arrangements but some of the Iron features that remain the same throughout the different styles make a true Spanish Colonial statement such as this Spanish Garage Door which includes decorative Iron clavos, Iron-forged pull handles and traditional iron speakeasies with their decorative iron grills and antique designer glass. Our Spanish Garage Doors are crafted out of hand-selected tight knot cedar and beautifully finished in a rich stain which beautifully enhance the natural wood features including grain and color variation. This Spanish Garage Door is an excellent complementing feature which establishes the ageless beauty of Spanish Colonial Architecture.
Design Directives, LLCThis lovely home began as a complete remodel to a 1960 era ranch home. Warm, sunny colors and traditional details fill every space. The colorful gazebo overlooks the boccii court and a golf course. Shaded by stately palms, the dining patio is surrounded by a wrought iron railing. Hand plastered walls are etched and styled to reflect historical architectural details. The wine room is located in the basement where a cistern had been.
Project designed by Susie Hersker’s Scottsdale interior design firm Design Directives. Design Directives is active in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Carefree, Sedona, and beyond.

Kessick Wine Storage SystemsKessick Wine Cellars ‘Select Series’ wine racking is a fully assembled, wall hanging wine storage and wine display racking system designed for small to medium spaces. The Select Series is a wall hanging system – a first for traditional wine cellar racking (commonly used in kitchen cabinets, closets and garage storage systems). They are secured with a super-strong yet easy to install cleat hanging installation method. The wall hanging cleat is a proprietary, specially engineered metal bracket that enables a fast, secure install with adjustability for the inevitable out-of-plumb and uneven walls.
The Wall-Install Select Series racks mount above the finished floor and do not end tight against the ceiling. This allows for wine storage below and on top of wine the wine racking at no additional cost and does not require finish moldings.
The Wall-Install mounting system has been engineered and tested to safely and securely hold the weight of the wine stored in the Select Series racking when properly anchored to the wall structure. However, depending on the application, a base platform with either a recessed toe kick or a furniture style base molding can be incorporated into the design for weight distribution and aesthetics.
