The homeowners knew their cabinets were well constructed, but they wanted a more contemporary feel. Ackley’s team replaced the slatted doors and grooved drawer fronts with the white flat-paneled ones seen here. They also extended the upper cabinetry — which had stopped at 7 feet — up to the 8-foot ceiling and added crown molding. The kitchen looks fresh and up-to-date but has a classic feel that will work for years to come.
