Discover the cuisine, wines and history of the Basilicata region at the luxurious Palazzo Margherita. Set in the village of Bernalda, the well-preserved villa is close to the region’s white-sand beaches and the famed Sassi caves. The property was recently renovated by the Coppola family with decorator Jacques Grange, imbuing its luxurious traditional interiors with modern style.
Start each day of your stay with an included breakfast, then head out to read in the courtyard garden, lounge under an umbrella on the terrace by the pool or sip a mimosa at the al-fresco bar. Have dinner at one of the outdoor tables, then finish the evening in the media room. The property also has its own restaurant and bar, which are open to the public but separate from the house.
Traditional architecture, lush gardens and a few modern furnishings give the villa the feel of a grand old estate brought back to life. In the media room, a vaulted ceiling with ornate moldings speaks to the home’s past, while striped wallpaper in neutral tones is a subtly contemporary touch. The eat-in kitchen has a dramatically arched Kronos stone ceiling and a long, welcoming table with bistro-style chairs.
The nine suite-style bedrooms are each decorated with their own scheme and each have en-suite bathrooms, creating private retreats within the palazzo. There are three bedrooms with queen beds on the garden level; all three have garden access and one has a sitting area. Upstairs, there are six bedrooms with king beds, all of which have access to either a Juliet balcony, private balcony or furnished terrace.
From Palazzo Margherita’s location in Bernalda, it’s a 20-minute drive to several white-sand beaches on the Ionian Sea.

Terrasse Paradis10m2 ! Petite surface mais gros défi pour ce balcon où chaque mètre carré devait être repensé et réinventé pour y créer une cuisine d'été, un coin repas et un espace détente. Sans oublier des solutions de rangements et deux objectifs : faire de cet extérieur une vraie pièce supplémentaire, et impacter positivement la clarté à l'intérieur de l'appartement.
Les couleurs de l'ensemble, sobres et lumineuses (déclinaison de blanc cassé, de beige et d'écru) sont réveillés par des touches de vert olive (banquette et crédence). Côté matériaux, de l'enduit à la chaux, du carrelage façon bejmat, du bois et des fibres (de coco et de jute) ont été mixés pour rester dans une ambiance méditerranéenne. Enfin, des arrondis (banquette sur-mesure et éléments de mobilier) ont été intégrés pour casser l'aspect très rectiligne et favoriser l'optimisation de l'espace.
Ce balcon est désormais 100% optimisé. Il ne reste plus qu'à profiter de la vue imprenable sur les toits marseillais du quartier d’Endoume.

Harris HouseholdThe house was gray when my husband bought it, and the house next door was gray as well. We ran across this deep red color at a home re-store and thought it was too serendipitous to pass up since we knew we wanted to re-paint the exterior but the color previously was undecided. We painted it and immediately loved it. We found classic house numbers and moved the location of the numbers to the inside of the porch, and got busy with landscaping. Our neighbor had a ton of limestone blocks from a demolished church that she didn't know what to do with, so we happily took them and outlined our yard with them. We planted rosemary, agave, fig ivy, and various blooming natives to the front yard in lieu of the boxwoods that were originally there.
