Granite GranniesGolden Ivory Granite is a quiet, but complex stone. It has a gentle lilting pattern of creams, tans, and honey oak color with black accents. It is very similar to Kashmir Gold Granite and Kashmir White Granite. It is quarried in India.

It is completely natural. It is not man-made. It has black background with thousands of petrified stones in as many colors and shapes.

The homeowner wanted marble in their kitchen, but they wanted the no-hassle care and durability of granite. We searched the market and found this stone, which is actually harder than granite. The home look out on the water in Calvert County and sits on several hundred acres. The house is a new build, but the homeowners wanted a classic look that would complement the historic local setting. The edge profile on the stone is ogee.

Granite GranniesWe imported this Taupe White Granite directly from Antolini Luigi & C. Fabricators (Verona, Italy). The kitchen is in an historic home in St. Mary's County, MD. The Taupe White Granite has a marble -like appearance with a white background, soft grey lines, and bits of gold. The kitchen has bookmatched 5" granite backsplash, and the edge profile is half-bullnose.
Granite GranniesLeathered Antique Brown Granite on the perimeter counters and River Valley Granite on the island. Leathered granite is a matte finish granite that has texture (the amount of texture usually depends on the minerals in the individual granites). Leathered Antique Brown Granite is a black (then name is a little off) granite that is almost soft to the touch. It still has a good amount of iridescence to it, as you can see in the photos. The River Valley Granite on the island is gentle, lilting stone that adds brightness and motion to the balance the dark perimeter counters.

An ogee edge ties into the decorative details of the cabinetry. The beautiful wood floors were done by the clients, who own Gideon's Wood Floors in Lothian, MD.

Granite GranniesThis bright, eclectic bathroom features Super White Quartzite on the vanity, tub surround, and half wall. A refurbished radiator adds historic charm to the marble-esque natural stone and the vintage style tile selections. Custom espresso cabinetry and woodwork adds a luxurious contrast.
This is one of only a handful of center hallway historic row homes in DC. Located near Eastern Market, this beautiful home was completely renovated last year. It had rented out to several students. The homeowners lived in a nearby house while a team of skilled craftsmen and niche contractors transformed the interior. Granite Grannies installed two kitchens, four bathrooms, a laundry room counter and two fireplaces. Except for two bathrooms, all the granite, marble, and soapstone was honed or leathered for a historic texture.
