This fun and fresh beachy bath boasts two sinks and much storage. There is also a make up area just outside the bath so two people can use in comfortably at the same time. Because this is a condo, storage space is limited but there is plenty here in the three tall storage cabinets provided.

Coconut Grove is Southwest of Miami beach near coral gables and south of downtown. It’s a very lush and charming neighborhood. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods and is protected historically. It hugs the shoreline of Biscayne Bay. The 10,000sft project was originally built 17 years ago and was purchased as a vacation home. Prior to the renovation the owners could not get past all the brown. He sails and they have a big extended family with 6 kids in between them. The clients wanted a comfortable and causal vibe where nothing is too precious. They wanted to be able to sit on anything in a bathing suit. KitchenLab interiors used lots of linen and indoor/outdoor fabrics to ensure durability. Much of the house is outside with a covered logia. The design doctor ordered the 1st prescription for the house- retooling but not gutting. The clients wanted to be living and functioning in the home by November 1st with permits the construction began in August. The KitchenLab Interiors (KLI) team began design in May so it was a tight timeline! KLI phased the project and did a partial renovation on all guest baths. They waited to do the master bath until May. The home includes 7 bathrooms + the master. All existing plumbing fixtures were Waterworks so KLI kept those along with some tile but brought in Tabarka tile. The designers wanted to bring in vintage hacienda Spanish with a small European influence- the opposite of Miami modern. One of the ways they were able to accomplish this was with terracotta flooring that has patina. KLI set out to create a boutique hotel where each bath is similar but different. Every detail was designed with the guest in mind- they even designed a place for suitcases.

HOW Interior DesignHOW Interior Design
This interior design embraces Tropical Mid-Century Modern style with a touch of retro charm, cleverly combining functionality and aesthetic appeal across the open-plan lounge, dining, and kitchen spaces. The client’s inherited furniture has been skillfully reimagined through collaboration with a local upholsterer, reupholstered with a bold botanical fabric that introduces a vibrant, tropical vibe. The sleek wooden frames of the furniture align with mid-century modern principles, while the deep mustard and green accents throughout the room create an energetic, harmonious color palette. In the lounge area, the television has been wall-mounted to maximise space and declutter the floor area, allowing for clear surfaces beneath both the TV and coffee table. This strategic design supports the client’s love for hosting by providing ample room for serving drinks and food. The TV unit below offers practical storage drawers, while the lightweight drinks trolley is designed for flexibility, easily transitioning between the lounge and patio. The thoughtful addition of a large palm tree sourced from The Big Palm Tree Company mirrors the design motifs found in the fabric and artwork, creating continuity and tying the space to its tropical theme. The dining space is seamlessly integrated with the lounge, featuring a small table paired with two luxurious green velvet armchairs. The rich green hue connects to the palm tree and orchid plant on the kitchen breakfast bar, repeating the tropical design elements and adding depth to the cohesive look. This repetition of color and natural forms creates a sense of flow throughout the open-plan layout. In the kitchen, the breakfast bar doubles as a casual dining area, enhanced by the thoughtful use of tropical greenery. The carefully curated decanters, glassware, and Nkuku dinner service set, featuring mustard accents, continue the vibrant palette, while the small-scale furnishings ensure the space feels open and uncluttered. The flooring and textiles were selected with precision to anchor the space and add a sense of texture. A soft grey-toned rug beneath the coffee table complements the neutral tones of the walls and artwork, while the layered textiles of the cushions and upholstery enhance the sense of warmth and comfort. As you transition from the lounge to the hallway, a series of three round mirrors creates an optical illusion of extended length and brightness, drawing the eye toward the bedrooms and bathroom beyond. These subtle design techniques emphasise the spaciousness of the home while adding depth and personality. The blend of inherited, reimagined furniture with fresh, vibrant design choices reflects a perfect balance of sentimental value, practicality, and modern style. The entire space is unified through repeated tropical motifs, natural materials, and a thoughtful layout, making it both a functional and visually stunning environment for living, dining, and entertaining.
